The world’s best golfers are in action at the Wells Fargo Championship this week, including big bombing Bryson DeChambeau.

It was good to see DeChambeau taking a short break following The Masters. He looked burnt out and with three weeks off, he should return in fine order.
The big hitting American has somewhat shredded his “Mad Scientist” nickname and adopted a new personality. He’s now one of the longest players on Tour and although that has affected his accuracy, he’s fun to watch.
He has made eight cuts this season from 10 starts, including two wins. DeChambeau is one of only a few golfers to average lower than 70 and his win in the Arnold Palmer Invitational was pure class.

Quail Hollow requires patience and accuracy, and although it’s not his strength, he is able to adjust. He used to be one of the best putters, so if he can focus on making putts, he’ll go a long way to winning.

Wells Fargo Next Best – Xander Schauffele
Looking to end a drought of over two years, Xander Schauffele looks ready to score a breakthrough win.
Although the Wells Fargo Championship isn’t a major, Schauffele has been extremely close to winning many major tournaments. However, he keeps coming up short.
He owns eight top-10 finishes in majors, including a T3 finish at The Masters. Schauffele was putting pressure on Hideki Matsuyama but found the water on 16. It was yet another disappointing finish for the 27-year-old.
“If you look at my career, you could call it a big ball of scar tissue with a bunch of second places,” Schauffele told Gold Digest following his Masters performance. “I don’t look at it that way. I don’t think my team looks at it that way. So I’ll sleep on it. I hit a good shot. I committed to it. It turned out bad. I’ll be able to sleep tonight. I might be tossing and turning, but I’ll be okay.”
However, we’re sticking with the fourth best player in the world. The four-time PGA Tour winner deserves some success and bettors get fair odds for the Wells Fargo.

Tommy Fleetwood has yet to win on the PGA Tour, which is hard to believe given his ability.
The six-time international winner finished T5 at the World Matchplay, T10 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T19 at The Masters.
He is always close to the top of the leaderboard and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks through. It could be this week, but he will need to improve on a few things.

Fleetwood ranks 152nd in strokes gained putting and 172nd strokes gained off the tee. Those are two vital categories, but he makes up for it around the green, where he ranks 16th.
For a player who ranks outside the top 75 in most of the major statistical categories, he’s doing well for the 27th best player in the world.
Fleetwood is well worth sticking with and the +7000 is generous from bookmakers.

Wells Fargo Roughie – Brendon Todd
The 35-year-old is an underrated player with three PGA Tour victories, so he shouldn’t be paying such high odds.
He scored two of those wins last year and although yet to win in 2021, he finished T8 in the Mayakoba Golf Classic and recorded top-20 finishes in the Sentry Tournament of Champions and World Golf Championships at The Concession.
He ranks fifth in strokes gained putting and first in driving accuracy, so there are plenty of reasons why Todd has been successful on the PGA Tour.
