Conners Headlines RBC Canadian Open

The next stop on the PGA Tour is the RBC Canadian Open, where local Corey Conners could take the honors.

Golf betting markets have World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler at the top of the market over Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy, so it’s a red-hot tournament.

It’s a week before the U.S. Open at Brookline, so it’s an important tournament as players gear up for the third major of the year.

Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and Golf odds for RBC Canadian Open. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Home Advantage for Conners

Corey Conners is respected at the sportsbook and the Canadian could score a home victory at the RBC Canadian Open.

The 30-year-old from Listowel is a one-time PGA Tour winner at the 2019 Valero Texas Open and he could add to his record.

He finished T13 at The Memorial last week and that’s an encouraging performance, so he could be worth sticking with.

He’s a +2200 chance with bookmakers and there is value with that price. Conners is better than many players on the Tour and he’s overdue a win.

Conners has been getting praise from his competitors and mentors, including Presidents Cup captain Trevor Immelman.

“The bulletproof factor is such a massive part of being great. I really do feel like Corey is starting to get that, and that’s what excites me,” Immelman told TheStar.com.

“If I was his agent or coach or caddy, I would be drumming that to him all the time. Like, ‘Dude, look at how you hit the ball. Who hits it like you consistently? Not many people. You are the man. You need to own this. Do you realize how damn good you are?’”

It’s only a matter of time before Conners wins his second tournament and we’re happy to bet on him against a stellar field in the RBC Canadian Open.

Pick: Corey Conners +2200

Scheffler Goes on the Ticket

We wouldn’t bet against Scheffler given his form, so he must be included in RBC Canadian Open selections.

The American has been in scintillating form with four wins this season. He was unlucky not to win the Charles Schwab Challenge when losing in a playoff to Sam Burns, so he could have further strengthened his top ranking.

He was disappointed with his performance at the PGA Championship and he quickly remedied the situation. We expect his play to remain excellent as the U.S. Open approaches.

It’s good to see him in the field and he won’t be using the Canadian Open as a preparation tournament. He plays to win and the +900 odds with betting online markets shouldn’t be overlooked.

A +1200 price would have been better but Scheffler has earned the right to be installed as the short favorite. He’s an excellent saver bet and he could run away with the victory on Sunday afternoon.

Pick: Scottie Scheffler +900

Theegala Tees Up at Value

Sahith Theegala is a talented young golfer who proved his worth at The Memorial.

The 24-year-old had an excellent amateur record and his T3 finish last week was one of his best results, so he’s heading in the right direction.

The Canadian Open has been won by some of the greats, including Tiger Woods, McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, and Jim Furyk, but it has also been won by up-and-coming golfers.

Theegala falls into that category and we don’t think he’ll remain winless for too much longer. The former Pepperdine alumni is paying +6600 to win the Canadian Open, so he’s worth including in selections.

“I’m still not fully over the fact that I’m playing with these guys, right? Like I think that’s going to be a learning process that I need to get better with because this is probably the strongest field I’ve played in so far this year and I was definitely a little bit star-struck,” he said following his strong finish at the Phoenix Open.

If he’s anywhere near the top of the leaderboard, bettors have good trading opportunities and we would have priced him around +4000.

Pick: Sahith Theegala +6600
