Kisner to Defend Wyndham Championship Title
Last Chance for FedEx Cup Points
The Wyndham Championship is the final PGA Tour tournament before the FedEx Cup playoffs begin, so there is plenty on the line.
Many of the players who have already qualified are skipping the Wyndham, but it’s still a quality field, including defending champion Kevin Kisner.

Headlining golf betting markets is Shane Lowry at +1600 and there isn’t much covering the first 10 players.
Familiar Course to Help Kisner
Backing defending champions isn’t the worst golf betting strategy and Kisner has a big chance of winning this week.
The 38-year-old American hasn’t won since winning this tournament last year, but he played well at the Open Championship. He missed the cut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last week, but Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., is right up his alley.
Golfers always play well at the same golf courses and Kisner is excited about defending his title, which came via a playoff.
“You can’t take anything for granted and it’s one of the biggest wins of my career so it’s going to be fun to back out there and I’m excited,” Kisner told Journal Now. “Getting into the playoff and all that was going on, you didn’t really have time to think about the pressure, you’re watching golf, trying to figure out what was going on, all these guys had putts to make birdie there on 18.
“I knew that I had a pretty good shot at making my putt. It was one of those putts you dream about having, three and a half, four feet, right edge, just get it going, so I wasn’t too consumed with the pressure on my putt.”
Golf odds have Kisner at +3300 and that’s a value price. He might have missed the cut last week, but he has played solidly this year and he’s easily good enough to win again.
Pick: Kevin Kisner +3300
Consistency with Zalatoris
Will Zalatoris has been one of the most consistent golfers on the PGA Tour, and although he’s yet to win, his class isn’t questioned.
He has come awfully close to winning a major and he seems to play better in the bigger golf tournaments. The Wyndham Championship isn’t the biggest tournament in the world but it’s important for FedEx Cup playoff positioning.
The sportsbook has Zalatoris on the second line of betting at +1800 and there is value with those odds. He won’t take long to secure his first win and his second win as a professional after winning on the Korn Ferry Tour.
His final-round score of -7 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic is a good sign and he could be ready to produce the goods.
Pick: Will Zalatoris +1800
Lowry Demands Attention
Tournament favorite Lowry is another consistent golfer who has attracted plenty of attention in betting online markets.
The Irishman missed the cut at the U.S. Open, but he rebounded with a T21 finish at the Open Championship. It was another solid performance for Lowry, who has been knocking on the door of a victory.
He owns three top-five finishes this year, including a second-place finish in the Honda Classic and T3 finishes at The Masters and the RBC Heritage in consecutive weeks.
We love the market confidence and, given his experience of winning a major, that puts him above most of the players in the Wyndham Championship field.
We expect his odds to shorten to around +1400 on Thursday. He typically has excellent betting support late in the week, so play him now for the best value.
Pick: Shane Lowry +1600
Pendrith at Value Odds
Taylor Pendrith didn’t show much after securing his PGA Tour card, but he’s back after a strong performance last week.
The Canadian finished T2 after shooting even on the final round. A better score could have secured him his first PGA Tour victory, but he’s playing well enough to stick with.
He finished T13 at the Barbasol Championship and T13 at The Players earlier in the year, which was won by Cameron Smith. Anything close to those performances could be enough to win the Wyndham Championship.
The +3300 odds are worth taking and he could find himself near the top of the leaderboard on Thursday. He’s +5000 to be the first-round leader and that could be worth backing as a saver bet.
Pick: Taylor Pendrith +3300
