Amateurs Trying to Look Like Pros at Augusta

The golf odds are all set for the 2022 Masters, and there are a number of different ways to wager on this event. Most of the betting focus will be on the outright winner, and this is another loaded field.

One interesting feature of the Masters Tournament is that amateur golfers are always invited to take part. There are six amateurs set to take their hacks at Augusta National this week, and the golf odds have been set for those players as well.

Nakajima, Hagestad are Favored

Kieta Nakajima is the favorite to win the low amateur award at the 2022 Masters Tournament, but he’s not an overwhelming favorite. The odds for Nakajima are set at +150, but he is someone that has little experience at Augusta National.

Stewart Hagestad has some experience already at Augusta National, winning the low-amateur award in 2017. After the completion of that tournament, Hagestad said, “Yeah, it’s a dream come true and it’s something I’ve long thought about and to have it all come to fruition is an absolute dream come true. Pretty special.”

Hagestad has odds set at +350, and he is looking for another top finish at the 2022 Masters.

Always Surprises at Augusta National

The other four amateurs at Augusta National have odds that look like this:

• Austin Greaser +500
• Laird Shepherd +650
• James Piot +700
• Aaron Jarvis +800

You can see from these odds that there is not a ton of separation, and most of these golfers are a bit unknown. Some of these amateurs have been known around the golf industry for a few years, but Aaron Jarvis is one name that stands out.

Jarvis is a freshman at UNLV, and he is from the Cayman Islands. Some golf rankings didn’t include him in the top 1,000 worldwide, and it will be interesting to see how he takes on the course at Augusta National.

The other three listed above could have a chance to win the low amateur award, and they could sneak onto the leaderboard at times. Just like with Nakajima and Hagestad, making the cut will be the first priority.
