McIlroy Headlines Star-Studded BMW Championship

Field Includes Players from PGA, LIV Tours

The PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and LIV Tours collide at the BMW Championship this week, where Rory McIlroy headlines the field.

Golf betting markets have McIlroy at +600 to beat the likes of Jon Rahm, Matthew Fitzpatrick, and Shane Lowry. However, littered in the field are LIV Tour and it should create plenty of controversy throughout the week at Wentworth.

Let’s check the latest Golf picks, stats, injury reports, and Golf odds for BMW Championship. We’ve plenty of Golf predictions for you to consider.

Favorite Backing Up

McIlroy is fresh off his incredible FedEx Cup win at the Tour Championship and he has a point to prove.

The Northern Irishman has been on the offensive about the LIV Tour, and although it will be awkward, he could let his golf do the talking.

We’re not fans of the trash talk between the tours, so if McIlroy can win the BMW Championship at value golf odds of +600, he could send a message.

This is the best place in the world to play golf,” McIlroy told The Guardian of the PGA Tour. “It’s the most competitive. It’s got the best players. It’s got the deepest fields. I don’t know why you’d want to play anywhere else.

“If you believe in something I think you have to speak up, and I believe very strongly about this. I really do. I hate what it’s doing to the game of golf. I hate it. I really do. It’s going to be hard for me to stomach going to Wentworth and seeing 18 of them there. That just doesn’t sit right with me.”

We think McIlroy is worth including in BMW Championship selections and his odds could firm closer to his tee time.

Pick: Rory McIlroy +600

Hovland Nearing Best

It hasn’t been the best second half of the year for Norway’s Viktor Hovland, but he could get back to his best at Wentworth.

He finished T15 in the FedEx Cup, and although hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since taking out the Mayakoba Classic in 2021, he has since won the Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour.

He also won the BMW International Open in 2021, so he enjoys playing against this level of opposition and he’s being respected in betting online markets.

Hovland is paying +1800 and it’s a fair price for a golfer with more upside than most in this field.

Pick: Viktor Hovland +1800

Gooch Leads LIV Charge

We think Talor Gooch is on the overrated side, but he’s good enough to make a statement on behalf of the LIV Tour.

It’ll be a frosty reception for the American, who played well in Boston last week and that should give him confidence.

He needs to ignore the comments from Billy Horschel, who criticized him during the week.

I honestly don’t think that the American guys who haven’t supported the Tour should be here. Abraham Ancer, Talor Gooch … you’ve never played this tournament, you’ve never supported the DP World Tour. Why are you here?” Horschel said.

Despite the distractions, there is solid support with the sportsbook and we think it’s warranted. He’s paying +3300 and those odds are juicy enough to take as a saver bet.

Pick: Talor Gooch +3300
