We understand betting on Rory McIlroy with confidence has been tough over the last few years, but he demands attention in every tournament.
He didn’t play his best at the PGA Championship, but that followed a win at the Wells Fargo Championship, so we’re prepared to forgive his recent effort at Kiawah Island.
Colonial should suit better and he only needs his putting to catch fire to have a chance of winning. Tom Watson commented about McIlroy’s doubts over his short game.
“Sometimes you have a slight doubt and that doubt grows as a cancer, and you’ve got to eliminate that cancer, that thought that ‘I just don’t have it this week,” reported Yahoo. ”You need to be able to rely on your short game. I could rely on my short game, the up and down.

Jon Rahm comes off a top 10 finish at the PGA. However, his form has been mixed and he missed the cut at the Wells Fargo, so McIlroy easily got the better of him.
McIlroy is paying a healthy +150 to beat Rahm and we’ll take that with open arms. It’s a terrific price and the Northern Irishman should give bettors a great sight at The Memorial.

Jordan Spieth vs Collin Morikawa
Form is with Jordan Spieth, who finished second behind Jason Kokrak last week at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
It was yet another top finish for the American, who returned to winning form when taking out the Valero Texas Open in April. Since that win, Spieth has finished T3 at The Masters, T9 at the Byron Nelson and T30 at the PGA Championship.
It has been a fine run of form and we fancy his chances of beating Collin Morikawa, who finished seven shots behind Spieth last week.
The 24-year-old is having another quality season having won the 2020 PGA Championship. He rarely struggles and he recorded consecutive top 10 finishes at the RBC Heritage and 2021 PGA Championship.
It’s not the easiest pick to make, but we’re going with Jordan Spieth. He has returned to his form of old and that makes him a logical play in Memorial Tournament matchups.

Matthew Fitzpatrick vs Louis Oosthuizen
We loved seeing Louis Oosthuizen return to form with a second-place finish at the PGA. It had been a long time coming and it could give him the confidence to play well at Colonial.
The 2010 Open Championship winner has struggled for consistency over the last few years, but he’s in fine form. He finished T26 at The Masters and followed it with a T8 at the Valspar Championship.

He’s still only 38 years old and there is plenty of winning golf ahead for the South African. The same goes for Matthew Fitzpatrick, who finished T23 at Kiawah Island.
Fitzpatrick is like many British golfers who struggle in the first few years on the PGA Tour. It’s a big difference to playing on the European Tour, and he might need a few more years to shine.
Experience should impact this matchup and we’re going with Louis Oosthuizen to continue his stellar play. He pays +115 with the online sportsbook, so include him in your selections.

Marc Leishman vs Keegan Bradley
Bettors get another value matchup as Australian Marc Leishman faces American Keegan Bradley.
Leishman has struggled with consistency but the former PGA Tour Rookie of the Year is ready to show his best. He finished T21 at the Byron Nelson before missing the cut at the PGA. However, Colonial suits his eye.
Bradley is in good form after posting numerous top-20 finishes. However, we think he will struggle to beat the Aussie this week.
There is a significant difference in the betting market, with Bradley paying -170. That’s too short, so take Leishman at the value price of +150.
