Scheffler Eyes FedEx St. Jude Championship

FedEx Cup Playoffs Start

FedEx St. Jude Championship odds are out for the first FedEx Cup playoffs tournament of the year, which sees 70 of the best PGA Tour golfers embark in Memphis.

Scottie Scheffler is the current favorite with FedEx St Jude. Championship lines after being the top-ranked player throughout the year.

However, winning at this time of the year isn’t something he’s done, and when Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are in the field, it’s not an easy feat.

Pressure Goes on Scheffler

The sportsbook has Scheffler at +650 to win his first FedEx St Jude Championship on February, March or April, so bettors are taking a risk.

Facing a limited field could help his cause, and there’s no doubting his consistency, which has been off the charts.

The American world number one leads McIlroy in the FedEx Cup rankings, so another strong finish could see him retain his top spot heading into the BMW Championship.

They don’t necessarily need to win this tournament, so long as they rank top before the TOUR Championship, but a win in the St. Jude Championship would see his lead become unassailable.

FedEx St. Jude Championship betting could see money come for Scheffler, who is always an excellent top five and top 10 wager.

Pick: Scottie Scheffler (+650)

Rahm Ready to Strike

Rahm is the forgotten player in the field, and he has performed well in this tournament over the last few years.

The impressive Spaniard won the 2023 Masters, and although he hasn’t played as much golf as some in this field, he has raw talent.

Sport betting markets have Rahm at +800, so there is good betting support. However, we think he should have opened around +700, so bettors get value odds with bookmakers.

Rahm caused controversy when congratulating LIV player Bryson DeChambeau on his record 58 on Sunday.

No matter who or where you are playing, 58 on a Sunday to win is an incredible accomplishment! Congrats @b_dechambeau on your win today at the Greenbrier,” Rahm said.

The tweet was enough to get the media asking him about a move to the LIV. Rahm insists he has friends playing on the rebel tour, but he’s not making a move.

If that hasn’t become a distraction, Rahm should be near the top of the leaderboard.

Pick: Jon Rahm (+800)

Push for Hovland

There has been a solid online gambling push for Viktor Hovland, who firmed into +2000.

The Norwegian superstar has done most of his winning on the PGA Tour against lower-quality fields, but he has shown his class numerous times in the majors.

Hovland owns four PGA Tour wins, so he’s ahead of many golfers in the field, which is why he needs to be respected.

If he’s anywhere near the first page of the leaderboard after Round 1, expect his golf live betting odds to firm to around +800. He likes to stick it out and battle hard, so he’ll only be ruled out if he plays poorly on Thursday.

Hovland is far too good to leave out of selections and he returned to Norway recently to get some R&R.

The times that I go home, it’s nice to see everyone, but it kind of gets boring as well because I don’t necessarily have a life there anymore,” Hovland reminisced.

When you turn pro and start traveling, you don’t see a lot of the same people you used to.

Pick: Viktor Hovland (+2000)
