Scheffler Heavy Favorite to Bounce Back at Travelers Championship

The Travelers Championship is next on the PGA Tour schedule, and some of the world’s best tee it up in Cromwell, Conn.

Golf odds have Scottie Scheffler favored to win at +350 and bounce back from a terrible showing last week at the U.S. Open.

Also looking to bounce back are Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and our top pick to win the tournament, Ludvig Aberg.

A-Grade for Aberg at Value Odds

Aberg offers excellent value for the 2024 Travelers Championship, especially after demonstrating his skills at Pinehurst No. 2 in the U.S. Open.

Despite making triple-bogeys on both Saturday and Sunday, which derailed his chances of winning, Aberg remained competitive and showed remarkable resilience in bouncing back from those setbacks.

The Swedish golfer is one of the brightest stars on the PGA Tour. With a victory already under his belt and good finishes in multiple majors, his future looks promising.

Currently, bettors can get +1200 odds on Aberg. The winner of the 2023 RSM Classic, Aberg has secured two top-25 finishes in his three major appearances.

We thought his odds would be much shorter for this tournament, and he’s an excellent bet at the price.

Aberg is good enough to win multiple tournaments on the PGA Tour this year, and he could be a sneaky pick for the FedEx Cup and follow in the footsteps of Viktor Hovland

Scheffler Favored to Bounce Back

There have been numerous explanations for Scheffler’s performance at the U.S. Open, when he missed the cut, but that’s the nature of golf.

It’s a challenging sport where consistent victories are tough to come by, and an off day was bound to happen. Some have even suggested altering the schedule due to Scheffler’s less-than-stellar performance, which seems unnecessary.

“I think last week — with the golf course the way it is — probably was not the best prep work for me coming into another really challenging event,” Scheffler said, referencing the previous week’s win at the Memorial Tournament. “I think maybe my prep would have been a little bit better for this week if I was at home, but I’m obviously not going to skip Jack’s (Nicklaus) tournament.”

Despite this, we remain confident in Scheffler’s ability to rebound and win the Travelers Championship. His current odds of +350 are attractive, especially compared to the +290 offered last week at Pinehurst. Plus, this tournament should be less demanding.

With no LIV players in the field, including U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau, Scheffler has a prime opportunity to shine.

Defending Champ Bradley Going Under the Radar

Keegan Bradley can be unpredictable, but he tends to perform well this time of year.

As the defending champion of the Travelers Championship, winning by three strokes over Zac Blair and Brian Harman last year, Bradley demands respect.

This year’s field is stronger due to the tournament’s upgrade to a signature event, but Bradley has the skill to compete with the best.

The six-time PGA Tour winner, including the 2011 PGA Championship, defeated Scheffler in this event last year, so that bodes well.

In 2024, Bradley’s major results have been impressive, with a T22 at The Masters, T18 at the PGA Championship and T32 last week at the U.S. Open.

This form makes him a strong contender to defend his title with enticing odds of +4500, which could shorten throughout the week.

Steady as it Goes for Cantlay

Patrick Cantlay’s performance at the U.S. Open marked a significant improvement and was much needed for the American golfer.

After struggling with his form for over a year, the T3 was his best finish in a major by a considerable margin.

Surprisingly, Cantlay had never been in contention on a Sunday at a major, making this a new experience for the 32-year-old.

Known for his deliberate pace, it might benefit Cantlay to pick up the tempo a bit. Injecting some adrenaline into his game could bring back the spark that’s been missing.

Despite being one of the more polarizing figures on the PGA Tour, Cantlay’s recent form makes him a valuable pick.

With odds at +1800, his quality is hard to ignore. We’re happy to back Cantlay at +1800 for the Travelers Championship.
