Scheffler Tipped to Lead After First Round at PGA

Scottie Scheffler could pick up where he left off with the first round lead at the 2024 PGA Championship.

The American superstar is all the rage with golf odds, and we have found the best value with Scheffler props.

He’s a dynamic golfer, and although we have trepidation about backing him to win outright, there is still value odds for the world’s best player.

Fast Start for Scheffler

Despite coming off a short break following the birth of his son, it’s all about business for Scheffler.

The world’s best player could make a statement in the opening round at Valhalla by leading the field.

He often plays well from the outset, which is why he’s the +1200 favorite for first round leader. It’s a fair price for a golfer who consistently shoots low numbers.

Once he gets on a roll, there’s no slowing him down. He’s on a serious one at the moment, and although he’s yet to win in May, that could change in 2024.

Scheffler described how good his life is at the moment.

I married my high school sweetheart and I always wanted to play professional golf, and now I’m here,” Scheffler said. “I was sitting there with a newborn in my arms and the green jacket in the closet. It was a pretty special time.

Bettors won’t get +1200 for Scheffler in many other prop betting markets, so this is the best value for the +400 tournament favorite.

Hole in One Magic

The chances of Scheffler scoring a hole-in-one at the 2024 PGA Championship are slim. The chances of anyone scoring one are slim, but the odds are too good to pass up.

Major golf tournaments attract drama, and what better way to celebrate the best golfer than for Scheffler to score a hole in one.

He scored a hole in one at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge, so he has done it on the big stage, and that should give bettors confidence.

He’s the current favorite at +16,000 with Rory McIlroy to score an ace, and those odds are generous from our sportsbook.

It would have the crowd at Valhalla in raptures, and we’re all about the drama.

Consistency is Key

Scheffler isn’t our top pick to win the PGA Championship based on his lack of wins post-April. However, he’s always around the mark.

That makes him a worthwhile bet for a top 5 finish, which pays +115 with golf betting markets.

Scheffler is supremely consistent in majors, posting two wins and eight top 10 finishes from only 18 attempts.

He has played four PGA Championships, finishing tied for fourth, T8, cut and T2. That’s an incredible record, and there’s no reason why he can’t be right around the top of the golf leaderboard once again.

He might have only ever won The Masters at the major level, but his two top 5 finishes at the PGA should give bettors confidence of another top finish.

Scheffler/McIlroy vs the Field

Bettors get -350 for the field against Scheffler and McIlroy, and we’re happy to include that in our golf parlays.

We think Scheffler will play well, but his lack of wins this time of the year is a worry, and he might be playing on limited sleep with the arrival of his son.

We’re also not worried by McIlroy, who might have won his last two events, but going through a divorce just days before the tournament doesn’t bode well.

There are many players in the field who can beat the favorites, so back the field at the PGA Championship.
