JT Preparing for Major Tilt
Justin Thomas isn’t having his best season, but the 28-year-old American has the Master in mind.
He has been playing well enough to put himself in contention of late but always finds a way to play himself out of contention on the final day.
Such was the case at the Valspar Championship two weeks ago when he shot a final-round 70. Bettors will be hoping he can put four rounds together at Augusta National because it’s needed to win the Masters.
“I mean it’s coming, I just got to be patient and be in the right frame of mind because you can’t force anything in this game,” Thomas told Golf Channel. “As soon as I start doing that you get down some rabbit holes. I’m doing a lot of really, really good things. I just need to keep putting myself there and it will start happening.”
Things could start happening this week and bettors get +1200 at the sportsbook. It’s a fair price for Thomas, who is a proven major winner and he looks ready to fire.
Pick: Justin Thomas +1200
Stick With Scheffler and Burns
Bettors could be inclined to think the impressive run of Sam Burns and Scottie Scheffler won’t continue because of the magnitude of the Masters.
However, golf is all about confidence and they have it in spades. Scheffler is the world’s best golfer according to the rankings, so he demands respect.
The Texan has won three of his last four tournaments and he has gone from a golfer desperate to win his first PGA Tour event to the world’s number one in a handful of weeks.
“I don’t feel like number one in the world. I feel like the same guy I was four months ago and I hope that doesn’t change,” Scheffler said. “I don’t place too many expectations on myself. I just like being out here and competing.
“I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to do that and I look forward to doing it as long as I can.”
Sam Burns is another in-form player. He won twice in 2021 before winning the Valspar Championship last month.
He has yet to play in the Masters, so it will be a new and daunting experience. However, Burns is full of confidence and he could be worth following.
Golf odds have Scheffler at +1600 and Burns at +4000, so they’re worth playing.
Pick: Scheffler +1400 and Burns +4000
Can Tiger Really Do It?
We’re just as shocked as anyone to see Tiger Woods practicing for the Masters.
He was at long odds to make a return to professional golf, let alone take his place in the Master’s field. Does he have a realistic chance of pulling off the incredible and winning his sixth green jacket?
Betting online markets have Woods at +5500, which is short at face value. Woods hasn’t played since he had a serious car accident. It looked like he could have lost his leg, so to see him teeing it up at the Masters is truly incredible.
His win in 2019 showed that he can do anything he puts his mind to, so we’re not ruling him out. We’d just like to see better odds.
