Johnson is a carefree pick for bettors. He always puts himself in the hunt in major tournaments and he’s the best golfer in the world for a reason. His form hasn’t been stellar this year, but the entire season has been geared towards the Masters this week.

Golf lines have Johnson as the +900 favorite and that’s good value. He withdrew from the Valero Texas Open last week to focus on The Masters, as reported by GolfChannel.com.

“After much careful thought over the weekend, I have decided to withdraw from the Valero Texas Open. I now plan to spend the week at home in preparation for next week’s Masters,” Johnson said.

Masters Next Best – Justin Thomas

The time is right for Justin Thomas to win The Masters. He finished fourth last year and he is rarely too far away from the prize in the majors.

Thomas has experience winning major tournaments when he was victorious in the 2017 PGA Championship. It has been over three years since that win, but after strong results last year, he’s due.

There are some key statistics in favor of a Thomas win at Augusta this week. It’s his sixth Masters appearance and of the 53 golfers who have won the Masters, the average champion wins at their sixth appearance.

Thomas has improved with every master he has played. His first showing in 2016 was a T39 result and he has bettered it every year. His subsequent finishes include; T22, T17, T12, and fourth in 2020.

He is trending towards a win and bettors should back him with confidence at odds of +1100. Thomas is currently priced higher than last week’s winner Jordan Spieth, but Thomas is the much safer bet.

Masters Best Value – Daniel Berger

Daniel Berger is often overlooked in golf betting markets, but we haven’t missed him this week.

The 27-year-old has been enjoying a good run on the Tour, which includes a win at the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge and the 2021 ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

His past Masters performances have been solid. Berger has competed at the Masters three times, resulting in T10, T27, and T32 finishes. His best finish came in 2016, but having that experience is ideal.

The Florida native is playing in career-best form and we wouldn’t be overlooking his chances at Augusta. He doesn’t let the occasion get the better of time and oozes confidence.

US Masters Best Roughie – Matt Jones

The Australian has been playing good golf and although only a two-time PGA Tour winner, one of those came this year.

Jones won The Honda Classic in March by five strokes. It was a comprehensive performance and Australian golfers have an excellent history at Augusta.

Fellow Aussies Adam Scott and Jason Day always play well at Augusta and now it could be Jones’ turn.

His only appearance at The Masters came in 2014 where he missed the cut, but a lot of water has gone under the bridge since. He has since posted two top-30 finishes at The Open Championship and PGA Championship.

“I flew in that night, had nowhere to stay, so I stayed on Kevin Stadler’s couch,” Matt Jones told abc.net.au about his first Master’s appearance.

“Then Monday was a washout, so I found a place to stay, but I didn’t get to go out on the golf course.

“I played 18 on Tuesday, nine on Wednesday, and then I was in the par-3 competition.

“It was a blur.”

Jones is now better mentally prepared to take on Augusta, but he knows it won’t be easy.

“Of course, winning is the goal… but we know how hard it is to win,” Jones continued.

“I’ve won twice on tour, so to win two in four weeks would be impressive; but it’s going to be tough.

“There’s a lot of holes out here that suit my ball flight. It’s a golf course that should visually suit my eye.

“I’m going to have to play well. You’ve got to do everything well out here.
