Woods shot a 79 and was at 222, 21 strokes behind leader Mito Pereira after 54 holes.
Woods’ total would have put him in a four-way tie for 76th and last place.
He said after the round, which saw five straight bogeys and a triple bogey, his leg was sore and he would make a decision whether to finish the tournament on Sunday.
The decision came hours later.
