Tiger Woods Shoots 71 in First Round of The Masters
Stunning Shots in Return to Tournament Play after 2021 Automobile Accident
Tiger Woods’ comeback on the first day of The Masters was nothing short of remarkable.
Having not played in a tournament for nearly 14 months, Woods shot a round of 71, nailing a medium-distance putt on 18 to finish the round 1-under par. That was good enough to put him in contention after the first round, a brilliant finish after everything Woods has been through.
If you had Woods at +425 to finish in the Top 10 after 18 holes, he wound up tied for 10th.
However, that is 18 holes and there are 54 more. The next step is to make the cut, which seems likely barring an awful round on Friday. One noticeable point: When Woods crouched to line up and read putts he wasn’t able to go as deep as one is used to seeing him or other golfers go, which is the result of after-effects of the damage done to his legs in the accident.

Some of the shots hit by Woods were great for a player who had been on the course weekly let alone someone returning after an automobile accident in February 2021 almost cost him his leg and left him in a hospital for 3 weeks and in a hospital bed for three more weeks at home.

Hard to imagine with all the great rounds Woods has had but this 71 at Augusta National will go down as one of the best rounds of his storied career.
Woods will play in the afternoon on Friday and conditions are expected to be crisp, cool and breezy.
So this guy Tiger Woods is pretty good at golf. A near hole-in-one 👀#Golf #TheMasters #Masters2022 #TigerWoods

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times summed up the round in a tweet:
This isn’t old Masters footage because of some type of rain delay. Tiger Woods is actually doing this.

When it came to some of the prop wagers offered at BetUS Golf betting, Woods went under the number of birdies (3 1/2) and bogeys (4 1/2). If you wagered on him making a birdie before a bogey, that one hit as Woods made birdie on six before taking a bogey on 8.
