Why Scottie Scheffler Will Win the Masters

The Defending Champion Holds the Aces

Same Menu Next Year?

Scottie Scheffler could repeat the dose of his 2022 Masters win this week, and he’s at the top of our Masters picks at Augusta National.

There are many reasons why bettors should back the American, who currently headlines golf odds this week.

The Three-Month Span

We talked about this in our Masters predictions preview, but Scheffler loves playing in February, March, and April. Luckily for the 26-year-old, the Masters falls in April.

He is a six-time PGA Tour winner, which all started in February last year with a win in the WM Phoenix Open. Since then, he has taken out the Arnold Palmer Invitational, WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, The Masters, a second Phoenix Open, and The Players.

All six wins came during the February-April span. He hasn’t won a professional golf tournament in any other month, and although that could be seen as a negative, it’s excellent news for those wanting to cash in on his +1400 odds at the sportsbook.

The New Jersey native loves this time of the year, and although the media isn’t making a big deal out of it, we think it’s important.

Some golfers, and other sportspeople alike, perform better at different times of the year. There is a familiarity, and it’s now associated with winning for Scheffler.

It could be bettors’ last chance to back Scheffler before April ends, so it’s one reason why he will win the Masters.

World Number One

An obvious reason to bet on Scheffler is because he’s world number one.

He recaptured the honor when winning The Players by five strokes over Tyrell Hatton. It was another classy performance from the 2022 Masters champion, who won’t want to relinquish the title.

The world’s best have a good record in the Masters, with the likes of Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth performing well.

We expect money to come for Scheffler with golf odds. He’s currently +600 with bookmakers, so money has come for him throughout the week.

There is a stigma with being the best player in the world, so Scheffler has that going for him, as Masters news reported.

“I think it’s a bit different,” Scheffler said of returning to Augusta as a winner. “I think, like, when you see the list of guys when they get in the tournament and how they qualify and you see ‘Lifetime Exemption’ by your name, I think it is really cool.

“I’ve kept things pretty similar to what they were last year, outside of getting here a few hours earlier on Sunday so I could play more golf. Just because you’re defending doesn’t mean I get to start at 1-under.”

He’s Better Than the Rest

Golf tournaments are hard to win. There are many variables, and everything needs to click into gear for four consecutive days.

However, for Scheffler, it feels like he can play just below his best and still be competitive, which is an asset not many golfers have in their arsenal.

Even when it looks like he’s not striking the ball well, he’s always lurking. We believe he’s simply better than the opposition, and there hasn’t been a golfer, despite Jon Rahm, to put much pressure on him.

Don’t get us wrong, there are a lot of quality golfers at the moment, but there isn’t a dominant force outside of Scheffler.

That confidence does wonders for someone’s golf game, and Scheffler could show the world that he’s here to stay on Sunday afternoon.
