Firenze Fire bites Yaupon in losing Forego Stakes at Saratoga
This was not quite horsing around
Just when you thought you have seen everything at the racetrack …
Watch in the deep stretch as Yaupon (inside) and Firenze Fire battle to the finish line in the Forego Stakes Saturday at Saratoga.

Suddenly, Firenze Fire turns his head and as race-caller John Imbriable correctly states, “tries to savage” Yaupon.
Jockey Ricardo Santana Jr. aboard Yaupon thought Firenze Fire was trying to bite his arm but then realized his foe was going after his mount.

Talk about a crazy way to end a great race, which was won by Yaupon.
Firenze Fire has always been one tough cookie in deep stretch but that was next level.

There have been plenty of wild ways I've wound up with the worse of two prices in a P5, but none quite like that.

Turnabout is fair play? Check out the past performances of Firenze Fire and you will see he had the same thing happen to him in 2018 at Parx while racing in the Gallant Bob.

The second-place finish by Firenze Fire has to be gnawing at him.
