Secret Oath turned the Kentucky Oaks into a romp and a sentimental victory for her trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
The 3-year-old filly delivered a triumph for the 86-year-old trainer in the 3-year-old stake at Churchill Downs on Friday.
Secret Oath, who was unable to take down the boys in the Arkansas Derby, showed that there isn’t a distaff horse able to handle her in Kentucky … or maybe anywhere.
She got a much better trip than the taxing one in Arkansas and jockey Luis Saez had a ton of horse under him through the Churchill Downs stretch.

Secret Oath bested Nest, the favorite in the race, by two lengths. A 50-1 shot, Desert Dawn, finished third.
Secret Oath was sent off at odds of 4-1 and returned $10.80 for a $2 win bet.

Now the question becomes: What is next for Secret Oath? The owners and trainer will do what is best for the horse and what is best for Secret Oath could be a start in the Preakness, May 21 at Pimlico, the second leg of the Triple Crown.
She also could head for the Black-Eyed Susan, the day before the Preakness.
