What a great way to start the way at a racetrack … and then disaster strikes.
The first race at Lone Star Park on Friday saw a 6-1 shot galloping toward the wire. The announcer said Moro Flyboy had opened double-digit lengths and was seemingly on his way to give his backers a sweet return to open the card.
The race was over … until it wasn’t over.
Watch as Moro Flyboy ducks into the rail, sheds his jockey Simon Camacho-Benitez and it was time to tear up those tickets you thought you were going to cash.
Moro Flyboy was up seven lengths, according to the official chart. He was overtaken late by the winner of the race, Heavenly Trump ($6.40).

DRF.com offered some more details:
Apprentice jockey Simon Camacho-Benitez and his mount, Moro Flyboy, both escaped serious injury in a first-race incident Friday night at Lone Star Park, according to the stewards.
Moro Flyboy ran on through the wire and galloped out with the field, as Camacho-Benitez walked away from the incident. The stewards said the rider took off the remainder of his mounts Friday.
“He’s all right,” jockey agent Bradley White said. “He had to go get a concussion test before he can be back.”
Might be time to head for the parking lot after losing that way to start the day.
