Breeders’ Cup Friday Pick 5 Bet 11/1: Spread In Bookend Races
- Ireland invader Lake Victoria, Brad Cox’s Immersive and Chad Brown’s Chancer McPatrick could be the best bets of Friday’s races at the Breeders’ Cup.
- Irad Ortiz Jr. boasts 20 Breeders’ Cup victories in 100 tries – tied for second with John Velasquez and behind only Mike Smith (27).

The first and last of five Breeders’ Cup 2-year-old races on Friday at Del Mar will be the most difficult to predict, but you will likely get some juicy horse racing odds if you can pick the winners.
There are some stars that you can settle on to single in your Friday Pick 5 wager in the seventh, eighth and ninth races. If you can get your single or singles right, you can spread in the Juvenile Turf Sprint (sixth) and the Juvenile Turf (10th).
The talented Irish-bred Lake Victoria is 4-for-4 with trainer Aidan O’Brien (18 Breeders’ Cup wins) in the Juvenile Fillies Turf (eighth) and could be your best single possibility. However, Chad Brown’s Chancer McPatrick in the Juvenile has been brilliant in his three races.
There are many ways you can go with your sports betting online Friday. We will try to narrow it down for you just a little. You can watch the races on USA network.
Betting Tips For Breeders’ Cup Friday Pick 5
1. Take Four Horses in Juvenile Turf Sprint
The 5-furlong Juvenile Turf hits leadoff for Breeders’ Cup 2024 and it might be the toughest call among the 14 total races.
Japanese invader Ecoro Sieg (8) is the favorite on the morning line at 7-2, but is lightly raced (2-for-2). We will let him beat us in the first leg and look for a little more horse betting value.
Aidan O’Brien has two horses in the race and both have a chance. Ides of March (12) won his last two starts, but we like Irish-bred Whistlejacket (7) more. Talented jockey Ryan Moore rides the horse that has run in three straight Grade 1s in three different countries.
The trainer-jockey combination of Todd Pletcher and Irad Ortiz Jr. can’t be counted out on Gate to Wire (11). Ortiz has won 3-of-6 Juvenile Sprints. Grade 2 winner Aesterius (2) is a good choice as well and we’ll add a longshot in Magnum Force (4), who can close.
2. Two To Focus On In Juvenile Fillies
While there are several talented fillies in this race, Bob Baffert and fellow trainer Brad Cox could have the best two.
Manny Franco rides Brad Cox’s Immersive (3), who is 3-for-3 with a pair of Grade 1 victories at Keeneland and Saratoga. Immersive, the daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist, should be able to stalk and pounce.
With Baffert’s Non Compliant scratched, you might want to take a chance with his other horse Nooni (8). She was second to Non Compliant last time out and could be on the lead.
Japanese standout American Bikini (9) could also be a factor, but we will stick with two for our online bet.
3. Lake Victoria Class Of Juvenile Fillies Turf
Lake Victoria (1), the daughter of superstar Frankel (14-for-14), has done nothing wrong in four races between England and Ireland.
She should be able to take care of this field, even though she is going one mile for the first time. Aidan O’Brien has Moore aboard for this race as well.
Californian Thought Process (7) can be considered for trainer Phil D’Amato and Brown’s Virgin Colada (6) would be a good add underneath at 20-1 horse racing odds and on bigger Pick 5 tickets.
4. Plenty Of Derby Hopefuls In Juvenile
Pletcher has won the last two Juveniles with Fierceness and Forte, but he does not have a dog in the fight this year.
Baffert still boasts two chances to take the lead among trainers in the Juvenile with his sixth win. His best shot is with Gaming (7), who is 2-for-2 after a win in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity and has Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard.
East Avenue (1) was impressive to win the Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland, beating highly-regarded Ferocious (4) by 5¼ lengths. We might be foolhardy, but we are going to leave East Avenue and Ferocious off the ticket.
We like Jonathan’s Way (5), who has been outstanding in his first two starts including a win at Churchill Downs in the Iroquois. Brown’s Chancer McPatrick (10), with Flavien Prat aboard, is 3-for-3 and has rolled past everyone in the stretch.

5. Hit The All Button In Juvenile Turf
If you have the cash, this is the race to use all the horses in your Pick 5.
Not many have that option for their horse racing betting strategy, though. So we will take four and wish we had at least eight.
In a wide-open race such as this at one mile, you don’t really want the favorite and we won’t have New Century (11). We do like Charlie Appleby’s Irish-bred Al Qudra (4), who was bumped and forced seven-wide to finish second behind New Century in September.
Appleby’s French colt Aomori City (12) could also improve off a fourth-place finish in a Grade 1 at 10-1 in the latest line. Satono Carnaval (1) from Japan can surprise at a big number along with Ireland’s Zulu Kingdom (5), for Chad Brown and Prat.
