The Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile is always a tough race to decipher, especially when an extra turn is involved. Cody’s Wish is the 5-2 morning-line favorite in the horse racing odds for Saturday’s race, but is 0-for-2 around two turns. Others have positive two-turn experiences. The race offers a short run into the first turn of the 1 1/16-mile Keeneland oval – something Cyberknife will have to deal with from post 9 – and a short stretch with the finish at the sixteenth pole.
Let’s check the latest Horse Racing odds, stats, injury reports, and Horse Racing lines for Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. We’ve plenty of Horse Racing betting odds for you to consider.

Cody’s Wish Turning Heads with Bang-Up Performances
Cody’s Wish, named after a teenager who has Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome — a rare genetic disorder – upset Jackie’s Warrior in the seven-furlong Forego at Saratoga in August for his third straight victory. Cody’s Wish, who last tried two turns in March, earned a field-best 112 Beyer in taking down the heavy favorite to win the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Cody’s Wish is 5-for-5 at the distance – all one-turn miles at Churchill Downs and Belmont.
Cyberknife went through the rigors of the Triple Crown trail and was 18th in the Kentucky Derby at 14-1. He won the Haskell before finishing second to Classic runner Epicenter in the Travers.
“We ended up choosing to run in the Dirt Mile instead of the Classic because we thought it would be the most likely race he could win,” trainer Brad Cox told Bloodhorse.
The waters get deeper for Laurel River, who is 2-for-2 in 2022 with both victories coming at Del Mar. Laurel River scored a career-high 108 Beyer in winning the Pat O’Brien in August.
How The Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile Could Unfold
Cyberknife is the only horse with the early speed that drew outside, so the short run into the first turn is crucial. With plenty of speed to his inside, jockey Florent Geroux will have to think fast to avoid going too wide. Laurel River and Pipeline could be the fastest out of the gate with Cyberknife and Cody’s Wish not too far behind. None of these contenders would be considered closers, although Cody’s Wish and Cyberknife could wind up farther from the pace if it’s too hot.
The Play
Baffert has made a career out of producing lightly raced speedballs. Laurel River is the latest. Look for Irad Ortiz Jr. to make the right moves with a fresh runner who could be sitting on a big one. Cyberknife, Cody’s Wish, and Pipeline should chase him home. Laurel River could provide value in horizontals (daily doubles, Pick 3s, etc.) when betting online at the racebook.
