It’s All About Silver Knott in Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf

Grade I Racing at Keeneland

One of the biggest races on the opening day of the Breeders’ Cup is the Juvenile Turf, which runs for $1 million over the mile.

As always, the Europeans have dominance in horse racing betting markets. Silver Knott is the 3-1 favorite following impressive form, but hot on his heels are Packs a Wahlop, I’m Very Busy, and Andthewinneris.

Godolphin Packs a Punch

Godolphin always comes to the Breeders’ Cup with high expectations and Silver Knott is one of their better chances.

The 2-year-old colt by Lope de Vega won the Solario Stakes three starts back before returning to form in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket, which is the best form guide for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.

He tops Breeders’ Cup odds at 3-1 and we expect that price to the firm. He could be the class runner of the field but looking to cause a minor upset is Packs a Wahlop, who won the Zuma Beach at Saratoga.

He’s imposing; you won’t miss him on the track,” trainer Jeff Mullins told BloodHorse. “He doesn’t look like a 2-year-old, that’s for sure.

At Del Mar he broke his maiden at five-eighths and followed that with two stakes wins.

Mike Smith rides and his experience can’t be overlooked.

Mike worked him before his maiden race and really liked the horse then. When he broke his maiden, Mike said, ‘This horse never took a deep breath in doing that,'” Mullins added. “And Mike’s just liked him more and more ever since then.”

The sportsbook has Packs a Wahlop on the fourth line of betting at 6/1 and he’s worth having on your ticket.

I’m Very Busy has been well-backed at 9/2 following a second placing in the Pilgrim at Aqueduct. It’s an interesting betting move for the debut winner but it has to be respected.

How The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Could Unfold

We are anchoring Silver Knott, who has time-honored form and having William Buick in the saddle adds to his appeal.

Buick is fresh off riding during the Melbourne Cup Carnival in Australia and he has been in excellent form, so he should settle the favorite midfield before coming with a late run.

Packs a Wahlop is a big boy, so he needs open running. Drawing gate two is ideal but look for Smith to get him rolling along nicely.

The Play

Silver Knott is our top pick and we’re including Packs a Wahlop, I’m Very Busy, and Andthewinneris for multiples. Silver Knott and Packs a Wahlop are excellent chances to run the quinella, but the big field can throw in surprise results.
