Inauguration Day 2025 Approaches
Billionaires understand that it’s better to be liked than loathed by the leader of the free world.
Inauguration Day is stealing the political news headlines, and it is right around the corner. Because of that, several heavy hitters will be holding a private reception on Monday evening for the newly-minted President Trump.
A Grand Old Party
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Miriam Adelson, the Dallas Mavericks owner and widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson; Tilman Fertitta, casino magnate, Houston Rockets owner, and Trump’s pick to serve as U.S. ambassador to Italy; Todd Ricketts, the co-owner of the Chicago Cubs; and Ricketts’ wife, Sylvie Légère are all chipping in to throw Donald Trump a big bash after the presidential inauguration but before the official inaugural balls on Monday night.
Three of sports’ biggest owners and political donors are teaming up with Mark Zuckerberg to throw Donald Trump a reception prior to the inaugural ball:

I imagine Zuck needed help getting additional cheese trays, a few more orders of pigs in a blanket, and maybe a DJ, so he called upon some of his friends to cough up a few extra bucks and help him out. Apparently, they’re keeping the specific location of the soiree a secret until an RSVP is received, according to the oh-so-elegant invitation. Mine must have gotten lost in the mail.
Anyway, it will be a grand old party for the returning king of the Grand Old Party. When does Trump take office in 2025, you ask? It happens to be on the very same date as this chi-chi shindig being thrown in his honor. Let the butt-kissing commence!

Change of Heart
It wasn’t long ago when Mark Zuckerberg kicked Donald Trump off his Facebook and Instagram platforms after the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, only weeks before Joe Biden took office. However, things have changed dramatically since then, and Trump’s sweeping victory over Kamala Harris has whisked him back into the White House, and knees must now bend, including Zuckerberg’s.
Only weeks after Trump’s stunning victory, Zuckerberg hopped on a plane and met him at his Mar-a-Lago Club resort. The two apparently broke bread and brokered a new beginning to their once acrimonious relationship. As a small token of his appreciation, Zuck ponied up a cool $1 million for Trump’s inauguration fund.

And it is no coincidence that the Facebook founder recently made a dramatic shift in the way his social media platforms check the veracity of the posts they receive. They had used third-party “fact checkers,” but he has become aware that facts are subject to interpretation, as counterintuitive as that may sound. Therefore, Facebook and Instagram will be using Elon Musk’s “community notes” content moderation blueprint that he has instituted at X.
It’s no secret that Trump harbors grudges, but he’s really no different than any other politician who holds heavy political sway. It comes with the territory, and even billionaires understand that it’s better to be liked than loathed by the leader of the free world.
