When two worlds collide, it can be a beautiful thing. This sentiment reigns true regarding professional basketball and fashion. These two industries have overlapped one another for decades, most prominently due to brand deals such as the legendary partnership Nike made with Michael Jordan in the 1990s.
However, sneakers don’t make headlines in NBA news anymore. Evolution has played its part, and in conjunction with social media, we're looking at countless Instagram accounts, such as @NBAFashionFits, that promote the latest drip sported by the NBA's supernovas.
After being sidelined in the game of fashion, our beloved basketball stars are now center stage when they make the tunnel walk – the basketball world's alternative to the red carpet. The tunnel used to be nothing more than a casual stroll from the arena entrance to the locker room. But it's now a catwalk for NBA players looking to stunt their latest Hermes, Dior, and Gucci fits.

Let's keep it real, though; high-end fashion is questionable at the best of times. If you've ever witnessed a fashion show, you and I both know we wouldn't purchase 90% of the extravagant clothes seen on a catwalk, let alone pay thousands to put them in a wardrobe. The tunnel walk has adopted its position as a catwalk, but some of these outfits should be walked on.
We're the fashion police, and today we're looking at the extroverted and critically acclaimed fashion icon who plays for the OKC Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Are the NBA rumors true? Is he the most stylish player in the NBA?

Partnering with Converse, receiving an invite to fashion week, and being regularly featured in fashion photo shoots would suggest so. He embraces the tunnel walk, and honestly, some of those fits have been FIRE.
Alongside the likes of Kelly Oubre Jr., he's unquestionably one of the most fashion-savvy players who's always making the NBA latest news headliners. Still, this artistic expression shouldn't be taken too seriously - as sometimes, the drip just sucks - taking the image from Instagram below, for example.

Nobody outside the fashion world is wearing jeans big enough to smuggle a few basketballs like Shai is above, and that footwear, What the f….? Everything seems to be going fine from the waist up, the baby blue jacket and bright-white t-shirt complementing the neck chain works well, but the introduction of flares kills the vibe, not to mention those ugly shoes on his feet.
We must, however, give credit where credit is due. Rocking the flares is as extravagant as it gets with Shai's fashion, and we've seen much-much worse (see below).

And because of the horrendous garments like this one, I guess Shai could be entered into the argument as one of the NBA’s best dressed. I'd give him a guaranteed place at the top if he dropped the flares and "what are those" footwear.
Or maybe, just maybe, I've spoken too soon…

The teddy bear look just isn't the one.
