We don’t sympathize much with drunk drivers around here

Tony Ferguson’s UFC career may look like a car crash, but we aren’t referencing the latter stage of his pro-MMA tenure in this UFC news article. The former UFC title contender has been involved in an actual car accident, but we don’t sympathize with drunk drivers around here.

Mental health isn’t a joke, but neither are excuses to get behind the wheel of a vehicle while intoxicated. As a huge advocate for mixed martial arts, I understand how one-too-many punches to the cranium can be detrimental to one’s mental well-being. A five-fight losing streak for Tony could wave multiple red flags regarding this topic.

However, no matter how much I attempt to make excuses for Tony, he has a beautiful family and wife. There isn’t a person alive that hasn’t dealt with inner demons, but when you have a family to think about, becoming the latest UFC news and rumors because of a DUI is a shameful response.

Tony allegedly crashed a pickup truck into two parked cars outside a Hollywood club. Thank God nobody was injured, including himself. After losing consecutive fights to Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler, and Nate Diaz since 2020, Ferguson’s most recent loss came to the Los Angeles police department – who arrested his drunk ass for DUI.

The pickup truck was significantly larger than the two victimized cars, and even then, it was his vehicle that ended up on its side. It’s not like we aren’t used to seeing Ferguson face down on the floor in recent years, though, remember that moment with Chandler?

I wouldn’t usually poke fun at such a serious accident, but my leash is off with no injuries and a drunk driver involved. Plus, Tony’s probably shadowboxing, dancing, and skipping from wherever the f*ck he is right now.

In all seriousness, when I saw ‘Tony Ferguson’ trending, I immediately thought about the possible fight announcement. Unfortunately, we have to put our UFC betting online to the side. We’ve watched similar complications with Jon Jones, and it took him years to return from such personal issues.

I hope Tony can find the help he requires, if any? Perhaps it was a one-off mistake; I hope so. Win or lose, you’ve entertained the MMA fan base for countless years, and we’d hate to see you go out like this.

I’m out!
