What a Lineup!

Something about these GoT shows fills me with the best type of anxiety…

If you’re a fan of prestige TV, you should be salivating over the lineup we’re getting in June. There are some exciting new series and new seasons for established powerhouses.

Since we don’t really get new Star Wars movies anymore, we’re getting a new Star Wars series called The Acolyte. For some reason, Disney’s iteration of Star Wars has really veered away from how cool lightsabers and jedis are. It looks like The Acolyte is the first Star Wars project we’ve gotten for a while that’s going to focus on those things. Honestly, I haven’t been overly impressed by the marketing I’ve seen but maybe if it gets some buzz, I’ll give it a watch.

Another new series is Clipped, which will follow the Donald Sterling scandal that forced him to sell the Clippers. The trailer dominated the entertainment news cycle for a bit so that show should have some buzz.

We’ve also got some very exciting returning shows. I haven’t watched The Bear yet but I know people really love it. That’s coming back with season three this month and there’s definitely some hype.

One show I’m super excited about is The Boys coming back for season four. Even if you don’t like The Boys, there’s no denying it’s consistently entertaining as hell. Plus, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is joining The Boys cast and he always is a welcome addition to any show.

Lastly, House of the Dragon is coming back for season two after two years away. The Game of Thrones spin-off was massively successful for HBO and could be even bigger in season two now that HBO knows they have a hit.

Which Show Will Dominate June?

I’m personally most excited for House of the Dragon season two. I, like many people, loved Game of Thrones until it fell apart at the end. House of the Dragon season one was so much about setting up the stakes for the series and now season two should focus on the real meat of the story. Something about these GoT shows fills me with the best type of anxiety and I’m really excited for season two.

The Boys season four should also be a big deal online. They’re saying it’s the craziest season yet, which is saying a lot. If they can outdo some of the stuff they did in season three, then people aren’t going to stop talking about it.

The Bear should also get a lot of buzz but it’s a smaller character-driven show so it won’t have some of the crazy set pieces that House of the Dragon or The Boys will have. Regardless, people are going to be talking about it a lot.
