‘The Notorious’ Is Back 🥋

The haters likely processed their Film of the Year award votes for Barbie…

He first took the sporting world by storm after collecting two championships in multiple weight classes, and to this day, he remains the single biggest draw in professional mixed martial arts. However, Conor McGregor’s latest venture has the entertainment news world buzzing, as the Irish megastar has put the gloves aside to test himself in the acting world.

You likely already know by now that “Road House”, a remake of the 80’s cult classic featuring Patrick Swayze – May he Rest In Peace – is set for release on March 21st, and “The Notorious” took the role of Knox, a villain of the movies main protagonist Dalton, who the Hollywood A-lister Jake Gyllenhaal plays.

When entertainment rumors first reported that McGregor would be starring in his first feature film, I had a “meh” moment. However, when I realized he’d be playing the bad guy and it was an action flick that involved fighting, punching, headbutts, and violence, I was all in!

Bad Reviews and Remakes, What’s New?

The Road House remake debuted at the SXSW Film & TV Festival earlier this month, and to put it nicely, many critics have dubbed it as “one of their least favorite Jake Gyllenhaal movies. But let’s cut the sh*t; one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, and the opinion of one isn’t the opinion of everybody.

F*ck the haters, and besides, it’s on Amazon Prime, and it’s about damn time I got something noteworthy for that monthly fee… the Amazon Original content has been slacking lately; let’s not kid ourselves.

Of course, alongside their hatred for non-actors having a go at the big screen, critics have also expressed their hatred toward the fact that another producer has remade a film instead of creating something from scratch. Um, hello? Nostalgia is a damn good feeling, and remakes such as Dune (2021) smashed the original out of the water.

I have no doubt that fans of action, fighting, and Conor McGregor will find some enjoyment in Road House, and the haters likely processed their Film of the Year award votes for Barbie.

Prediction

Do I expect it to be better than the original? No, it won’t be close, but if we can comprehend this before sitting down with our popcorn, it’ll be much more enjoyable as opposed to allowing the “expert” critics to sway our judgment beforehand.
