Pups and Zac Efron? Sign Me Up!
I have been anxiously anticipating this film’s release…
Is there anything more adorable than being interviewed while surrounded by a swarm of cute puppies? BuzzFeed posed this question in their Puppy Interview series a few years ago, and ever since, it has been an unparalleled source of joy for its viewers.
In the latest entertainment news, the cast of The Iron Claw (accompanied by many adorable puppies) joined BuzzFeed to answer some questions ahead of the movie’s release on December 22. Considering the heavy subject matter of the film, I am glad there were some emotional support pups for the cast while they answered questions!
The A24 film takes on the tragic story of the Von Erich family, a pro wrestling dynasty known for the “curse” that resulted in three out of five sons dying by suicide before reaching middle age. Zac Efron portrays Kevin Von Erich, the second oldest, while Jeremy Allen White shines as Kerry, the fourth son of Fritz Von Erich. Harrison Dickinson also reportedly delivers an outstanding performance as David, the third son.
By presenting a detailed but not exhaustive look into the challenges and successes of the renowned sports stars, the movie contributes to ongoing discussions about using tragedy for entertainment purposes and what level of creative freedom is reasonable when adapting true stories.
Personally, I have been anxiously anticipating this film’s release. It has been getting killer reviews and A24 has always done an excellent job with their heart-wrenching biopics – most recently, with their release of Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla which explored the controversial relationship between Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
The Iron Claw absolutely *wrecked* me. Zac Efron from the top rope with the best performance of his life. big, big recommend.

When asked about the most challenging part about portraying real people, Efron answered, “There’s like a fine line that you are between trying to get it perfect, and also still kind of having your own stuff going on in the character and that’s hard especially when you know they’re going to see it.”
The BuzzFeed interview comes right after some Zac Efron movies got well-deserved attention by the actor getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame just a few days prior. During his acceptance speech, he shouted “Go Wild Cats!” in reference to his breakout role in the 2006 movie High School Musical. However, it wasn’t just this teenage musical that earned him recognition; rather, it was a combination of standout performances in The Disaster Artist, Hairspray, Me and Orsen Welles, and other films.
Make sure to check out The Iron Claw when it hits the big screen on December 22. From the reviews I’ve read, this film is likely to pack an emotional punch. But maybe sneak in some emotional support puppies!
