Green Light for Season 2!

Off the bat, season 2 is looking very promising…

Despite Squid Game being one of the most popular shows to come out in the last decade, we’ve had to wait three years since the first season came out. Obviously, with the popularity of the Netflix series, there was going to always be a Squid Game season 2.

For fans who have been eagerly waiting, we finally have a trailer.

The first season of Squid Game dominated entertainment news when it came out. Even the likes of LeBron James watched the series. Off the bat, season 2 is looking very promising.

Lee Jung-jae appears to be the only major player returning from the original Squid Game cast, which makes sense considering how season 1 ended. At first, it looked like season 2 was going to be a retread of season 1 but Lee Jung-jae inclusion is going to make it interesting.

Can Season 2 Live Up to the Hype?

Squid Game season 1 was a total phenomenon. I was a little late to the party but the show was incredible. What made the first season so good is that it really felt like an authentic Korean narrative and wasn’t watered down for a wider audience.

My only concern is that now that there is so much money behind the show, it won’t take the huge swings that it did in the first season. That said, show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk did such a good job in the first season that they should give him the control he needs to make another great season.

Based on the trailer, it looks like it’ll be a very interesting take for the second season. Throwing Lee Jung-jae’s character back into the game after the way the first season ended is a bit concerning because it seems like they’re giving up on the angle they appeared to be taking at the end of season 2 but who knows? I’ll definitely be watching.
