Newton and His Hat Were Unfazed

The real winner of this fight was Newton’s hat which remained intact throughout the entire fight…

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton is causing a stir in NFL news due to a video circulating online that shows him involved in a multi-person brawl.

On Sunday, during a youth 7v7 football event in the greater Atlanta area, Cam Newton found himself in the midst of a full-on fight.

Newton was captured on camera, defending himself against multiple members of TopShelf Performance (TSP), a national 7v7 youth program. Per ESPN, the fight occurred following the We Ball Sports x DynastyU 7v7 tournament at B.E.S.T. Academy–a public school in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the initial 22-second video posted to X (formerly known as Twitter) Sunday evening, Newton is seen being pursued by at least three people.

From the footage, there doesn’t appear to be any punches thrown by the former Panthers quarterback, but it does look like there were some hurled his way.

And for those who aren’t up-to-date on Newton’s signature choice of headwear, he’s the one with the large hat, seemingly grabbing one of the attackers by the backpack and guiding them down the stairs amidst the scuffle.

Multiple angles of the altercation have been posted to X, showing that the shoving match went from the top of the stairs down to a fence, which was ultimately broken up by security officers working the event.

It appeared that a group of guys had attempted to jump Newton, but without any additional information or statements from those involved, I can only speculate.

The former Panthers QB hasn’t officially retired from the NFL. However, the last time he played in the NFL was in 2021, when he joined the Panthers for 8 games.

Just earlier this month, NFL rumors began to circulate about his retirement when he said in an interview with Boardroom, “I’m not a football player no more. I’m a Youtuber.”

Retired or not, the real question is: Who in their right mind would pick a fight with a 6’5 and 245 lb pro athlete?

In any case, the real winner of this fight was Newton’s hat which remained intact throughout the entire fight.
