Oliveira’s Coach Confirms They’re Ready for Topuria 🔥
Dana White, Sean Shelby, Hunter Campbell, we are ready with the pen in hand… – Diego Lima
Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira, the former lightweight champion and one of the biggest stars in the UFC’s lightweight division, might be one signature away from competing against Ilia Topuria and for UFC gold.\
Do Bronx eagerly watched his television this past Saturday as Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena went to war for the 170 lb strap.
Why? Well, it’s simple, really. The winner of this welterweight championship UFC fight had serious implications for the future of the lightweight division.
With JDM beating Belal [Makhachev’s former training partner] between all eight sides of the octagon, Islam Makhachev will now be looking to move up and challenge the newly crowned champ.

Diego Lima Claims’ Do Bronx ‘Is Ready’
Following the events at UFC 315, Diego Lima, who coaches and manages Charles Oliveira, posted an interesting photo on Instagram.
“What a night, ladies and gentlemen,” Lima’s caption read under a photo of himself and Oliveira.
“Dana White, Sean Shelby, Hunter Campbell, we are ready with the pen in hand.”
And before you suggest this is just another manager getting overhyped in UFC rumors, Oliveira himself shared the post to back up his claims that he’s ready for El Matador.
Sadly, as we awaited Dana White’s appearance and potential fight announcements at the UFC 315 post-fight presser, it turned out that he was a no-show. So, the suspense regarding the lightweight and welterweight divisions will continue for a little bit longer.

If Makhachev Isn’t Vacating the Title, What’s Going On?
Here’s my question: How will Topuria, who previously stated in UFC news that he would not fight in his lightweight debut unless it’s for a championship, compete against Oliveira for the 155lb gold if Makhachev isn’t vacating his title?
This past Friday, the pound-for-pound greatest, and current lightweight titleholder, took to social media and claimed that he isn’t vacating the lightweight gold despite his plans to challenge at 170.
“This Saturday’s main event will define my next move. But regardless of that fight, I’m not going to vacate my lightweight title,” Makhachev posted on X.

So, either Topuria and Oliveira will fight for an interim lightweight title, or Dana White and the matchmakers have something up their sleeve for the UFC schedule: Makhachev might defend against Topuria at lightweight before moving to 170 to challenge JDM (or vice versa)?
No matter how the cookie crumbles, we have some huge fights lined up, and they’ll be gladly welcome following the lacklustre matchmaking we’ve seen in the first half of 2025 thus far.
