Could he become the undisputed welterweight champion?

To my absolute disbelief, boxing promoters have got it right for once. Gone are the days of pathetic matchmaking—for this summer at least—as combat sports fans are gifted with one of the most significant bouts of boxing’s modern era.

The latest news in boxing revealed that Errol Spence Jr. and Terance Crawford throw down on July 29 to crown an undisputed welterweight champion.

And with that said, let’s preview the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly from Errol Spence’s career thus far.

Errol Spence Jr.: The Good

Where do I f*cking start? I could literally write a six-page essay on the accomplishments and noteworthy moments from Errol Spence’s boxing career. The 33-year-old Long Island, New York native has accomplished in boxing what most competitors can only dream of.

Currently, he’s the No.3-ranked pound-for-pound greatest and is the unified champion at 141 lbs (Welterweight). Prior to his professional career, he successfully won three successive USA national championships and additionally reached the quarter-finals of the 2012 Olympics during this early stage of his career.

Before stepping up to the pros, he built an amateur record of 135-12. Right now, as a professional competitor, he’s 28-0, with 20 of those fights coming by way of knockout—that’s a 78% knockout-to-win ratio—you love to see it!

Errol Spence Jr.: The Bad

The bad? Well sh*t, that’s a tough one. Aside from the fact he’s a bad, bad man in the ring. His world did come crashing down on October 10, 2019, though.

When you own a Ferrari 488 Spider, sticking to the speed limit is more challenging than getting Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk to sign a bout agreement. Unfortunately, Spence’s high-speed antics cost him dearly.

After veering over the center median, his car flipped multiple times, and he was ejected from the vehicle—because who wears a seatbelt in a Ferrari? He was taken to the intensive care unit. Stunting facial lacerations only, he, fortunately, avoided broken bones and, of course, death!

Boxing rumors revealed he’d been drinking earlier that night. Shame on you, Errol. But kids (and “Adults”) learn from his mistakes and DON’T drink and drive! No matter how much money you have, karma’s an unforgiving b*tch.

Errol Spence Jr.: The Ugly

With an unblemished fight record, hundreds of millions in the bank, and a reputation as one of the greatest welterweight boxers in the history of the sport, there isn’t much ugliness surrounding Spence’s boxing tenure—past or present.

However, a matchup with Terrance Crawford could undoubtedly become ugly. It’ll be the most challenging twelve rounds of his life, and even a totaled Ferrari won’t compare to Spence’s pain if he receives the first loss of his pro-boxing career. Those fans of betting online should be prepared for this fight.

But the recovery story of Spence Jr., spending six weeks in the hospital, valued time away from the ring, to then return and claim all the gold, proves that anything is possible with a determined mindset. And if anybody has the skills and mentality to out-perform Crawford, he’s the man to do it!
