Will We See the Biggest Fight in UFC History Next Year?
Personally, before bedtime each night, I say a little prayer that this UFC fight will happen…
The Jon Jones ducking Tom Aspinall saga was momentarily halted after UFC 309, as Jones defeated Stipe Miocic to defend the heavyweight gold successfully, declared to give fans what they want during his post-fight speech (A fight versus interim champ, Tom Aspinall), and everything us MMA enthusiasts hoped for was seemingly coming to fruition.
Of course, that didn’t last long. Jones backtracked and proclaimed he wasn’t interested in a fight with Aspinall during the UFC 309 post-fight presser unless Dana White and the promotion presented him with, and I quote: ‘f*ck you money.’ All is not lost, however, and this feels like Jones’ “ducking” is, in fact, a ploy to generate the biggest payday in his pro career.

Personally, before bedtime each night, I say a little prayer that this UFC fight will happen. It has the potential to be the biggest fight in MMA history. Even Dana White said Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is the biggest fight in UFC history at the 309-post presser.
Will we see the biggest fight in UFC history next year? Will I, along with a plethora of other devoted UFC fanatics, stop rambling on? One former UFC champion and UFC news insider believes so…
Michael Bisping Spills the Beans
It goes without saying that Conor McGregor‘s expected return isn’t looking great. The Irish superstar was alleged to return in 2025; however, recent legal issues have put him under a public microscope, and his ability to focus on the fight game might be hindered as a result.
Fortunately, former middleweight titleholder and colour commentary analyst Michael Bisping believes that fans could see Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall in the first half of 2025 at the same venue and date as the UFC initially planned for McGregor’s return… International Fight Week, in Las Vegas, during June 2025.
During a recent discussion on his YouTube channel, Bisping splilled the beans and highlighted that talks are underway:
“Apparently, now, conversations have already started [for Jones vs Aspinall]. I guess that fight goes down during International Fight Week, 2025, in Las Vegas.”
Jones vs. Aspinall: In Talks!!!
To roll off Bisping’s sentiment, UFC rumors surrounding this mega fight can be backed up straight from the horse’s mouth. Both Jones and Aspinall have confirmed that talks are underway. This suggests just one factor remains that could make or break this highly sought-after bout… Will the UFC pay the price?

If I were in Dana’s shoes, I’d take some of that annual revenue and give Jones’ whatever he wanted. The UFC took an eye-watering $1.3 billion in annual revenue in 2023, so it’s not like they’d be out-of-pocket by double, tripling, or even quadrupling Jones’ usual income. It’s alleged Jones’ takes between $5-10 million per fight, so at the least, we can assume he’s requesting $20-30 million for the Aspinall bout, which, in comparison to the promotion’s earnings, wouldn’t even dent the sides.
Please, give Jones the bag (not that bag, Christ) and give us [Fans] what we yearn for. Due to its sheer magnitude, it’s almost certain to break a Conor McGregor attendance and/or pay-per-view record…
You know it makes sense.
