Jake Paul Sets Sights on Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis

The Weight Difference Is Insane, the Fight Isn’t Official, and Yet Somehow This Might Actually Happen

I Love This Timeline 😮‍💨🥊

If you’re wondering about Gervonta Davis’ next fight, it’s Roach in August. But after that?…

Jake Paul woke up and decided he’s fighting Tank Davis now. Not because it makes sense from a weight class perspective (it doesn’t), or because they’re natural rivals (they’re not), but because Jake Paul is continuing his career-long quest of scheduling fights that make people scratch their heads.

Jake Paul says he’s setting up an exhibition fight with Gervonta Davis this November. Which is kinda insane, considering Davis is one of the best fighters on the planet, and like sixty pounds smaller. But whatever, it’s Jake. He stays doing this.

The fight was apparently almost a done deal, but then Tank’s last match with Lamont Roach Jr. ended in a messy draw. A bunch of people thought Roach actually won (there was some sketchy stuff with a missed knockdown), so now they’re running it back on August 16.

Until that gets sorted, the Paul-Davis fight is basically on hold. Jake says once Tank clears that, they’ll circle back. So it’s not official yet, but it does sound like both sides are down if the timing works out.

Some Rules

Jake Paul is gonna Jake Paul. He says he’ll cut down to 195 for the fight, and Tank can just come in at whatever he wants. No headgear. Ten three-minute rounds. It’s not sanctioned (obviously), so it’s just an exhibition, but still basically a full fight.

This whole thing is basically “sure, let’s just see what happens.” And honestly, that’s kind of the entire boxing news cycle at this point.

Jake’s Got Business Too

Jake Paul’s next fight is on June 28 against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Yes, that’s still happening. Yes, it’s part of his whole “I want to be world champ” mission. And yes, I’m aware he really just does whatever he wants. Like that whole Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul thing.

So now we’re here: boxing rumors flying about a fight between a guy who’s way too big and a guy who’s way too good. Davis has to win his next fight. Jake has to win his. Then they’ll try to make this happen.

If you’re wondering about Gervonta Davis’ next fight, it’s Roach in August. But after that? It could be Jake. And just like Jake hopes, I’ll probably be watching.
