McGregor, Holloway, and O’Malley: Prime Candidates! 🤩

O’Malley, who’s currently one of the biggest stars in the UFC and is already petitioning for a super fight…

Following an emphatic knockout of Alexander Volkanovski to capture the UFC featherweight championship, the new king has introduced the UFC schedule to an intriguing possibility at 145 pounds.

Topuria shared his desire to compete at the world-famous Santiago Bernabeu; Dana White loves the idea, and now, the potential of a UFC pay-per-view heading to the Real Madrid’s stadium is real!

Naturally, Topuria called the name of Conor McGregor, the biggest name in professional mixed martial arts. However, who would be the perfect opponent for the Spanish/Georgian representative, and who’s the most likely? Let’s matchmake the ideal main event that could witness 70,000 fans pile into

Topuria vs McGregor: No Chance

Never say never, but don’t get your hopes up. McGregor has been sidelined for close to two years; he’s been tied to a bout with Michael Chandler since last year, and although the Irish MMA superstar is expected to return in 2024, the stars in every continent would need to align for this UFC fight to surface.

McGregor is two weight classes above Topuria; “Notorious” will not cut back to 145 pounds, and this would result in a non-title bout. If the UFC were to arrange such a historic event, a championship up for grabs would be a must, and this arrangement doesn’t present that.

Topuria vs Holloway: Possible

With Holloway already being scheduled to face Justin Gaethje for the BMF Title at UFC 300, he isn’t the most viable option to fight at the Santiago Bernabeu later this year, especially if he loses.

However, should Holloway defeat Gaethje, he is the No.2-ranked featherweight in the world, and from a numbers game, Holloway vs. Topuria is a massive draw for the MMA fan base.

Topuria vs Volkanovski 2: Most Deserving

The simplest path is to give Volkanovski the rematch he deserves. The Aussie legend may have suffered a brutal knockout to Topuria this past weekend. Still, he won the first round on all three judge’s scorecards, has been atop the featherweight division for years, and, in my eyes, is completely deserving to receive his shot at rectifying history.

Topuria vs Sean O’Malley: Makes Sense

The most intriguing opponent for Topuria would be Sean O’Malley, who’s currently one of the biggest stars in the UFC and is already petitioning for a super fight at featherweight should he successfully defend the bantamweight strap versus Chito Vera at UFC 299.

Styles make fights, and with Topuria’s heavy hands alongside O’Malley’s slick footwork and emphatic striking, could you imagine the hype these two would draw inside a 70-thousand-seater on PPV… epic!
