Tyson vs. Paul Is Still On!

Thankfully, Mr.Tyson is doing great. – Official Statement

Mike Tyson’s representatives have assured fans that his fight with Jake Paul on July 20 is still set to go ahead as planned, despite a recent health scare that has swept boxing rumors this week.

Tyson, 57, became dizzy and nauseous during a flight from Florida to California when his ulcer began to flare up. Half an hour before the plane was due to land in L.A., the on-flight tannoy asked if a doctor was on board in an attempt to assist the heavyweight legend.

A member of Tyson’s team released a statement with an update on the situation:

“Thankfully, Mr.Tyson is doing great. He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative of the medical staff that were there to help him. However, it’s false reporting that medical attention caused the flight delay. This two-hour delay was due to air conditioning issues on the aircraft.”

When this boxing news was first reported, publications reporting Tyson’s health care falsely claimed this situation caused the flight to be delayed by two hours. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case, and it would seem that Iron Mike has no intention of calling off his fight with social media star turned influencer Jake Paul.

Fighting at 57 Years Old

While the combat sports legend is no stranger to fighting, this wasn’t the first time that health concerns about Tyson’s upcoming bout with Jake Paul have hit the headlines. When the Netflix-hosted boxing extravaganza was first announced, various medical specialists shared their thoughts on the significant age gap and how Tyson’s willingness to compete may backfire.

“Boxing has an inherent risk of concussion, and then there’s an increased risk of traumatic brain injury we have seen like bleeds on the brain,” said Nathan Howarth, an expert in the field of athletic concussions.

“I’m not saying there is any evidence that, as an older fighter, Mike would be at risk of that. However, we do know the impacts of subclinical concussions.

“There’s no definitive of what the risks would be, but as someone who is 57, there’s clearly going to be a risk in terms of that age profile of potentially having more of an impact for someone who’s older.”

Jake Paul Has Power

Tyson comes out of retirement to face Jake Paul, a fighter who’ll undoubtedly be the least experienced of his professional career. However, the 57-year-old hasn’t fought professionally since 2005, in a bout where he was notably knocked out.

While ‘The Problem Child’ does lack experience, he has knocked out the likes of Tyron Woodley, a former UFC welterweight champion, during his short career.

Therefore, the worries about Tyson’s health ahead of this fight are undoubtedly valid. We can only hope that money isn’t blinding the heavyweight legend and that Tyson, a man close to being an old-age pensioner, is prepared for the youthful aggression that’s about to step before him.
