An irresistible force, an immovable object, the baddest motha f*cka on the planet—Mike Tyson.

Boxing legend, Iron Mike Tyson, will be 58 on July 20th when the leather starts swinging in his bout against Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Boxing rumors persist he will get paid double what he got in his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr. nearly four years ago.

Million Dollar Man

I’ve been critical of Mike Tyson making boxing news by fighting not only Jake Paul but any professional boxer who could tarnish his legacy. Just give me 30-second clips of him working out and banging heavy bags that don’t bang back. I’ll take it, and watch as many as you’ve got.

I want to believe he could still do what he did in the 80s when no one could touch him. Men chiseled out of granite would bless themselves more times than the Pope at Easter Sunday mass before walking into the ring to take on an irresistible force, an immovable object, the baddest motha f*cka on the planet—Mike Tyson.

But now I’ve gained some perspective. I know Mike respected money about as much as he respected women back in the day and his well has run dry many times. According to former UFC champ, Henry Cejudo, Mike has 20 million reasons to be Jake Paul’s next fight.

“I feel like there is probably a really good payday for Mike. He’s probably going to wind up making close to about 20 mil, and he’s about to turn 58 years old,” said Cejudo on his podcast with Kamaru Usman.

And puh-leeeeze, don’t tell me you’d step in the ring with Jake Paul for $20 million because you’re not alone, tough guy. Unfortunately, no one wants to pay for a 20-second massacre ending with one of two grown men openly sobbing on the canvas.

Mike Tyson’s record is far from unblemished at 50-6. He lost his aura of invincibility when his mentor Cus D’Amato died and he began substituting relentless training for unbridled partying. That manifested in a stunning 10th-round knockout loss to Buster Douglas, the first defeat of his career, in which all the chalk-eaters choked on their C-Notes as Tyson was a prohibitive 1-33 favorite.

But time heals all wounds and history has treated Tyson kindly. The new generation knows how dangerous he once was and his social media presence only adds to the legend. Yet, a poor showing by Tyson will live forever in online infamy.

But apparently, I’m more concerned with a humiliating defeat than he is because Tyson has posted several training sessions, one of which was aimed at Jake Paul when he used the tagline, “You still wanna f*ck with me?”

Yeah, for that kind of money, I can’t blame him. And the damn shame of it all is he’s young enough and skilled enough to win, and possibly erase the legacy of the mauler who was once described as the Baddest Man on the Planet.
