Who Did Jake Paul Actually Want to Fight Instead of Mike Tyson?

Iron Mike Wasn’t Paul’s First Choice, but the Other Guy Asked for More Money

$20M Wasn’t Enough…

He’s probably punching the f*cking air now, realizing how big of a mistake he made. – Jake Paul

If you’ve failed to pull yourself from under the March rock, Jake Paul’s next fight is against the scariest heavyweight in boxing history, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

The 27-year-old social media star-turned-boxer has competed in ten “professional” fights to date, and he’s decided to continue bullying the elderly by challenging Tyson, who’ll enter the July 20th bout as a 58-year-old.

Obviously, the fight, which has signed a deal with Netflix to be streamed on its giant platform, wouldn’t be taking place if a sh*t load of cash wasn’t thrown at the former WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight champ. When the boxing rumors first ignited social media, many of us believed it was a troll, as others showed their disgust at Paul’s dire need for recognition, and a few (me) began hoping a second ear-bite may surface.

Looking at Mike Tyson’s record, 50-6-2 (44 KOs), and then couple that with the legend of the Tyson name, you can only imagine the sh*t-talk Paul will deliver should he win the contest. Nobody is here for that, so please, boxing Gods, do us a favor and ensure this result goes the way nature intended.

Unfortunately, the chips could be staked against ‘Iron Mike,’ who’ll fight Paul being two years shy of his sixtieth birthday. However, in an alternate universe, one where Tommy Fury wasn’t money-hungry, we’d likely be witnessing an entirely different boxing event come July 2024.

Mike Tyson Wasn’t the First Option for Jake Paul, Allegedly

Recent boxing news has revealed that Paul’s first-choice opponent wasn’t Tyson; in fact, his team pushed for Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury II. Paul even offered Fury $20 million for the fight.

“Most Valuable Promotions had been trying to find the right fight, the right time frame, the right event. We knew we wanted to target this summer, so we just started making calls. We called Tommy Fury, which was one of the names, and he said no, he wanted more money.”

To no surprise, Paul went on to talk smack about Fury, the man who handed him his first-ever loss inside a boxing ring:

“So, now, and it’s all serendipitous, he’s probably punching the f*cking air now, realizing how big of a mistake he made; I mean, he’s an idiot.”

Ouch, sounds like Paul’s a little sour, no?

We know that loss is eating him up, and he also states that his brand will be much bigger next time. But let’s be honest, this egomaniac isn’t going to sleep at night until he gets a chance to avenge that loss.

With that said, Mr. Fury, take the dub and run, and let’s watch him squirm whilst trolling him about said loss for the rest of time.
