Shut Up and Take My Money!

It’s going viral and fans can’t seem to get enough…

The New York Yankees’ newest concession offering is stealing the MLB news for a brief moment, as fans are going cuckoo for the “unlimited” Stadium Souvenir Popcorn Bucket being sold throughout the ballfield.

Get Your Popcorn, Here!

MLB games are in full swing, and although the action on the field is why fans pay those steep prices, there’s something else that gets them out of their seats besides a thunderous home run or a key base hit. Food. That’s right, ballpark food has been making a comeback, and it’s not just peanuts and Cracker Jacks anymore.

Take New York, for example. The concessionaires who routinely overcharge for everything from a draft beer to a dish of ice cream at Yankees games have come up with another way to separate fans from their hard-earned money. This time it’s popcorn, and it’s not even the boutique variety that can be purchased online or at a quaint little store in a high-end tourist trap.

Nope, you won’t find jalapeno cheddar or peppermint hot chocolate, it’s your basic salt and butter variety and damn it, you’ll like it that way. But the hook is the container in which it is presented – a plastic triangular-shaped gold replica of Yankee Stadium itself!

Yankees fans are lining up to pay $14.99 to get their popcorn, take a selfie, and fill their faces. Oh, and refills are free until the seventh inning, just about the same time the beer and the booze shut off. Management doesn’t want any ninth-inning stragglers filling their buckets as a kind of doggie bag to munch on while taking the subway home.

Some call it a corny gimmick, if you’ll pardon the pun, but it’s going viral and fans can’t seem to get enough. It’s available all season long at “The House That Ruth Built”, so don’t delay, get yours today!

Stanton Trade Bait?

MLB rumors are continuing to swirl that Giancarlo Stanton has made his last appearance in a Yankees uniform. The 35-year-old slugger has been out all season with tendonitis in both elbows, and word recently broke from manager Aaron Boone that there is no set date for Stanton to begin a rehab date.

It appears there’s no room in the stacked Yankees lineup either, which means that when he does return, whether it be this season or next, another destination is likely in his future. Seattle has been rumored as a possible landing spot, but his $25 million per year price tag until 2027 may keep potential suitors at bay.

Nevertheless, there’s always the possibility we will be seeing the 6’6″ tower of power in the postseason and making memories as he’s done so often before.
