Parasocial Sports Update 🧊
Some of them are loud about it, some keep it lowkey, but they’ve all been tied to these teams…
We’ve got playoff hockey on every night, and while the games and NHL rumors are obviously the main event, it’s also a good time to shout out the celebs who’ve been repping teams that actually made it this year.
Some of them are loud about it, some keep it lowkey, but they’ve all been tied to these teams for a while now. So in the spirit of good NHL playoffs and even better celebrity allegiance, here’s a rundown of famous fans with skin in the game this postseason.
Justin Bieber and Drake – Leafs
Justin Bieber and Drake are Maple Leafs fans. Always have been. Bieber’s posted about them for years, even helped design one of their jerseys. Drake reps them the same way he reps literally every Toronto team. The Leafs are up 2–0 on the Senators, so both of them are probably feeling pretty good about it right now.

Will Ferrell and Snoop Dogg – Kings
Will Ferrell’s been a regular at Kings games forever. He wore an Elf costume to one earlier this season and nobody was surprised. Snoop’s also all-in. He helped coach a Kings charity game with Will back in February. LA leads their series 1–0 over the Oilers and play again tonight.

Shaq – Devils
Shaq’s been a long-time Devils fan. He’s shown up to NHL games, done the Zamboni thing, the whole bit. Unfortunately, New Jersey is down 0–2 to Carolina right now, and it’s not exactly trending in the right direction.

Ariana Grande – Panthers
Ariana what are you doing here? Ariana Grande surprisingly supports the Florida Panthers. She’s from South Florida, she’s been at games, and she was even there for their Cup run last season (where they won the Stanley Cup Finals). The Panthers are currently up 1–0 on the Lightning. Maybe we’ll see her again this postseason in NHL news!

Neil Young – Jets
Neil Young backs the Winnipeg Jets. He’s been tied to the team since they returned to the league, and he’s never switched up. The Jets are up 2–0 against St. Louis, so I’d imagine Neil Young’s been keeping an eye on the NHL hockey schedule like the rest of us.
Today in 2005, Scott Young died.
Born in 1918 in Cypress River, Manitoba, he wrote 45 books over the course of his life. He was also a writer for Macleans and worked as a host on Hockey Night In Canada.
