There Isn’t Even a Red Polo…

Being a Capricorn, [red is] my power color or some BS thing like that. – Tiger Woods

If you’re looking to wear some Tiger Woods fashion, it looks like it will cost you a pretty penny.

Woods had been working on the Sun Day Red clothing line since his separation from Nike made golf news headlines in January. The end of this 27-year partnership left Woods without a sponsor for his clothing and footwear for the first in his professional career.

However, the PGA tour legend wasted no time. On Wednesday, Woods’ clothing line had its grand release, with the golfer making an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to showcase the expensive clothing.

“It’s about athletes being first and designing something for the athlete so that we can perform at a higher level,” Woods told Fallon.

He told Fallon that the name “Sun Day Red” was a nod to his habit of winning 15 majors on Sundays while wearing red shirts. He also shared the story of how this tradition began with his mother.

“Being a Capricorn, it’s my power color or some BS thing like that,” he continued, appearing skeptical. “I end up wearing red and winning some junior golf tournaments. To spite her, I wear blue. And I end up losing those tournaments.”

“So, momma’s always right,” Woods added.

Steep Prices 💸

In the past, Woods has sported Sun Day Red clothing at the Genesis and the Masters tournaments, but this marks the official debut of his new “athluxury” collection. Emphasis on the “luxury.”

The prices are definitely steep. The line features a range of products, including polos priced at $120-$175, hoodies for $200, shorts for $135, pants for $165, and shirts up to $90. However, it’s widely known that avid golfers typically earn higher salaries than the average American, which is likely factored into how these items are priced.

Even though most golfers are obviously not as wealthy as the pros, they still have more financial means compared to the average person. For those who were unaware, Tiger Woods’ net worth sits at an impressive $1.3 billion.

One thing notably missing from the Sun Day Red website is the iconic red polo shirt. But don’t fret — perhaps they will have a limited edition release in the future, priced twice as much as the regular shirts. Who knows!
