Another Accolade for the GOAT 🥇
Her athletic comeback and her unshakable courage had us all cheering.
Simone Biles had an excellent year, and it looks like she’s finally getting the credit she deserves. Sports Illustrated just named her their 2024 Sportsperson of the Year, and she couldn’t be more deserving.

Simone Biles’ Medals
Sure, she’s all over celebrity news as the most decorated gymnast of all time, but just how many gold medals does Simone Biles have after crushing it at the 2024 Paris Olympics? With the three golds she won in Paris added to her four from Rio de Janeiro, Simone now has a total of seven Olympic gold medals.

Add her two silver and two bronze, and she’s tied with Věra Čáslavská as the second-most decorated female Olympic gymnast, with 11 medals in total. In terms of total medals, though, Simone reigns supreme. She’s got 30 World Championship medals and an impressive 25 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship medals.
Standing Up for What’s Right
And even though she’s the GOAT with dozens of Simone Biles medals and has made history with gymnastics moves literally named after her, that’s not even the best thing about her. She’s changed the face of women’s gymnastics and opened up critical conversations about mental health in sports. Remember when she suffered from the twisties at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and had to withdraw from competition? We were all terrified she wouldn’t come back, but her 2024 return was more incredible than anyone could have imagined.

Let’s not forget the huge changes she’s sparked by speaking out against sexual assault. When she revealed she was one of more than 500 athletes abused by Larry Nassar, she took control of the narrative. After Nassar’s sentencing, she helped push USA Gymnastics to sever ties with the Károlyi Ranch, where many assaults happened. She even called out USAG officials, leading to their resignations. Through it all, Simone used her voice, even under immense pressure.
