She Did Not Hold Back!

I thought I was going to be banned from America… – Simone Biles

Each episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast just gets better and better as Alex Cooper interviews more guests.

In her recent episode, she sat down with Olympic gymnast Simone Biles and discussed a range of topics, including her struggles with the “twisties,” her husband’s controversial comments, and her plans for the 2024 Olympics.

Tokyo 2020 Was Scary

One of the most memorable moments was when discussing the Tokyo Olympics when Biles experienced the “twisties” during a team event, causing her to become disoriented mid-air and only complete 1 and ½ twists instead of 2 and ½. This led to a faulty landing and it is now understood that Biles was struggling with this dangerous phenomenon at the time.

For those unfamiliar with gymnastics terminology, the “twisties” refer to a state where a gymnast loses awareness of their body while performing spins in the air. It can be extremely dangerous, and during the interview, Biles compared it to suddenly forgetting how to drive while behind the wheel.

“It’s basically like your mind and your body is at a disconnect. Your body is going to try to do something and your mind is going to be like, ‘No, you’re not doing this,'” Biles said. “You’ve been doing something for so long, and you now no longer have control.”

She went on to say, “If I could have got on a plane and flown home, I would have done. As soon as I landed (the vault), I was like, ‘America hates me, the world is going to hate me, and I can only see what they’re saying on Twitter right now.’

“That was my first thought … I thought I was going to be banned from America. Because that’s what they tell you, ‘Don’t come back if it’s not gold. Gold or bust – don’t come back.’”

Remember That Whole Thing With Simone Biles’ Husband?

The interview also addressed a more recent event that caused a stir on social media – when Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, claimed he didn’t know who she was and that he was the catch in their relationship.

When Cooper brought it up, Biles clarified that while initially finding it amusing, she was taken aback by the hate directed towards her partner. “So I thought it was hilarious at first, then they hurt my feelings. And then one night, I broke down and I’m like, why are you guys talking about my husband like this?” Biles said. “You don’t know him, you don’t know who he is, and if anybody’s met him, they know he’s the sweet guy and will do anything for anybody.”

Most people on social media are saying, “Girl, get up,” in response to her comments about her husband from this interview, and personally, I don’t understand it. Maybe she could if everyone wasn’t dog-piling on her.

This might be a super hot take that I may regret later, but if she says he’s a good man, then let’s just leave it at that. I mean, personally, I would have left him. However, I am an insecure, sensitive writer who can barely cartwheel. She is The Simone Biles. I’d trust her with my life, much less her own.

I’m just glad she’s back to dominating the world of gymnastics and has her sights set on even more medals at the upcoming Summer Olympics 2024. It truly wouldn’t be the same without some Simone Biles gymnastics.
