A Man of the People 🤝

DeChambeau makes videos that help hacks like me feel better about their golf games…

I am old enough to remember when Bryson DeChambeau was making golf news for being fans’ favorite punching bag. That’s because it feels like it was about 10 days ago. Think Tom Brady roast but the jokes about Bryson were completely serious.

We’re not sure how it happened but golf fans can’t get enough DeChambeau. He managed to transform from one of golf’s biggest villains to having the patrons rooting for him over golf’s golden child Rory McIlroy at the U.S. Open.

Here’s how DeChambeau won us over.

The Only Person in History to Use YouTube to Appear Less Annoying

Call them YouTubers, influencers, or whatever term you want to use, they are usually pretty annoying. I just recently got back from traveling and nothing is more annoying than watching people take shameless selfies for the Gram.

Yet, DeChambeau points to YouTube and social media as major reasons why fans are now on his side. DeChambeau makes videos that help hacks like me feel better about their golf games. He buys cheap clubs and makes videos of himself playing with them. Makes up goofy challenges like breaking 50 videos.

In the end, the man who was an ultra-serious nut job on the course now doesn’t take himself too seriously. On the eve of winning his second U.S. Open, DeChambeau gave us this priceless message on salting his balls.

Remember When We Hated All the LIV Golfers?

There was a time when the golf rumors made it easy to hate LIV Golf. DeChambeau was just one of several star golfers who was criticized for taking the bag from the Saudis.

Then a funny thing happened. The PGA Tour did some sort of weird merger with LIV Golf that remains more mysterious than a Darkness Retreat with Aaron Rodgers.

DeChambeau should have his own marketing firm and invite athletes like Rashee Rice and Ja Morant who need a PR makeover. It’s hard to argue with DeChambeau’s stats now with two major wins.

The biggest dub for DeChambeau was somehow winning back these vicious internet streets.
