Golden Knights making history in Vegas is supreme

Las Vegas is quickly becoming one of the best sports cities in America. For years, professional teams stayed away from Sin City but now they can’t keep them out. The Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA were the first to bring a championship to the city last year and the Golden Knights of the NHL weren’t far behind. And now, the hockey team put together a killer performance against the Florida Panthers to win the NHL Finals.

The series wasn’t close as the Golden Knights took out the Panthers in just five games. In case you missed this week’s NHL news, Vegas absolutely dominated Game 5 with a 9-3 win. Forward Jonathan Marchessault won the Conn Smythe Trophy, which is given to the NHL’s top playoff performer.

It was an electric scene in Las Vegas as huge masses of people gathered outside of T-Mobile Arena to watch the team bring home the first Stanley Cup in franchise history!

The Golden Knights’ quick rise to prominence has been something to behold. The team made it to the Stanley Cup in its first year of existence but lost to the Washington Capitals. Last year was the first time the team failed to reach the playoffs. That adversity is what they needed to get over the hump as they blew through this year’s playoffs to win it all.

Team captain Mark Stone put together an iconic performance to close out the Panthers. He had the first hat trick in a Stanley Cup Final series clincher since 1922. 101 years ago! Though he didn’t win the MVP award, he put together a masterpiece of a performance for the Golden Knights in Game 5. The team finally got over the hump and helped keep owner Bill Foley from getting Old Takes Exposed.

When the Golden Knights were first starting up, there were NHL rumors saying that Foley predicted the team would win a championship within six years. It has been six years since he made that statement. Foley can’t see the future but he clearly had confidence that Las Vegas would be a great market for hockey. After seeing the waves of people show up to cheer the Golden Knights, it’s clear that Las Vegas is the perfect city for hockey.

With the Golden Knights winning a championship, two of three professional sports teams in Las Vegas have brought home a trophy. The Las Vegas Raiders have some work to do if they want to continue the streak of winning in the city.

Regardless, the championship parade for the Golden Knights is about to be among the most lit in NHL history. If there’s one thing Las Vegas knows how to do, it’s throw a party. The team is in for a massive celebration that will likely be on The Strip.
