F1 Needs to Take It Down a Notch…

You can skip these kinds of things. It’s just standing up there, you look like a clown. – Max Verstappen

The penultimate meeting of the Formula 1 season commenced questionably with Kylie Minogue performing at the inauguration ceremony (I recognize they could have found a considerably more relevant artist).

Everything also transpired in a Hunger Games fashion…

Lifts hoisted the drivers to various podiums, mirroring the “tributes” from the critically acclaimed book and film series. The only thing that was absent was the lovely Jennifer Lawrence doting arrows.

Amidst the official opening of the first race in Sin City in 41 years, a magnificent drone display also occurred.

Only in Vegas, right?

“If we burn, you burn with us.” – Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games: Mockingjay).

I wouldn’t be a “true writer” if I didn’t express my artistic excellence via some quote that nobody can remember (or care for). Still, I’ll pretend I didn’t Google it (My journalistic integrity would be damaged otherwise). And it seems the F1 Vegas GP is being compared to Hunger Games, so it was only fitting.

It’s funny, though, because the quote above could resemble some of the Las Vegas Grand Prix cars after the expected cold weather has threatened the safety of the event’s competitors.

Verstappen Killing the Buzz

Additionally, to the Hunger Games-esk ceremony, images of every motorist were displayed on the £2 billion Las Vegas sphere as the drama and enthusiasm increased.

A $500 million pit structure is also a feature of the new street circuit, but not everyone has been a devotee.

From where I’m sitting, this entire spectacle could arguably be a celebration of Max Verstappen’s dominance this season. After all, he’s already won the Drivers’ Championship, and Red Bull owns the Constructors’.

However, in a hilarious response to the F1 Las Vegas antics, Verstappen expressed his disliking to F1 news reporters:

“I don’t like all the things around it. I’m looking forward to doing my best, but I’m not looking forward to this. For me, you can skip these kinds of things. It’s just standing up there, you look like a clown.” – LOL.

I love how the man who Vegas would desire the most support from has sh*t all over their extravagant plans. We can only hope he wins this race and displays some more disgruntled comments because a disgruntled Max is a brutally honest but also comedic one.

What’s your opinion?
