Full-Time F1 Driver, Part-Time DJ?

When I first stumbled upon this helmet design, I thought Robocop had infiltrated F1…

How does a seven-time F1 champion struggling to make a podium in 2023 position himself in the latest F1 news and F1 rumors? If you ask Lewis Hamilton this question, he’ll point directly to his helmet.

The British Formula One legend took to social media this week and unveiled an all-new helmet design ahead of Saturday’s Japanese Grand Prix.

With a chrome finish and an LED strip across the visor, when I first stumbled upon this helmet design, I thought Robocop had infiltrated F1. But no, it’s just Hamilton focussing on aesthetics instead of attempting to challenge the true GOAT of racing, Max Verstappen.

In collaboration with Japanese illustrator Hajime Sorayama and Team Lab, Hamilton isn’t holding back from the absence of the “one helmet” rule, which Formula 1 removed in 2020.

Fans have compared the design to something out of Daft Punk’s music videos, and the Mercedes driver will certainly need to “Get Lucky” if he’s ever to contend with Verstappen, who owns a 194-point lead in the F1 Drivers’ Championship.

This weekend’s F1 race at the iconic Suzuka circuit is one of the most highly anticipated races on the F1 schedule. Although the Drivers’ Championship is out of reach for Hamilton, he can at least look good while attempting to challenge Ferrari for second in the Constructors’ Standings.

With that said, after Carlos Sainz Jr.’s emphatic performance at the Singapore GP last week, don’t be surprised if Hamilton and Mercedes drop in the standings and begin looking at alternative career options.

Maybe Shakira needs a DJ? Just keep the helmet on and rock it on stage—Marshmello style—to savor the embarrassment… we’ll never know it’s you!
