A Star-Studded Affair

The presence of Gerard Pique and Clara Chia Marti set the tone for a glamorous weekend. The former Barcelona player and Shakira’s ex-husband were seen enjoying the F1 race with their new partner.

Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and all-around entertainer Luis Fonsi joined the A-list crowd. The man behind the global smash “Despacito” wasn’t there to perform but to soak up the high-octane atmosphere.

Even a video game legend showed up! Steve Russell, the creator of Spacewar!, joined the celeb crowd at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Racing legend Juan Pablo Montoya also cruised through the Spanish Grand Prix paddock, sparking nostalgia for fans. Montoya, a former Williams driver who famously challenged Michael Schumacher’s dominance, brought back memories of his thrilling racing career.

Paddock Drama and Driver Speculations

While the celebrities garnered much attention, the real drama unfolded around the drivers, especially Carlos Sainz Jr. The local media was abuzz with F1 rumors about Sainz’s next career move. Speculations about a potential switch to Williams have been swirling, with many believing that Sainz is seriously considering the offer.

Sainz has kept his cards close to his chest, hinting only at the possibilities. “I have spoken with a thousand engineers, and it is a lottery for 2026… but be careful that 2025 is worth the same,” he told Spanish journalists.

Adding to the paddock chatter, French racer Pierre Gasly spilled some tea at the Spanish Grand Prix! The driver, currently without a contract, talked openly about his rocky relationship with teammate Esteban Ocon.

As he was Verstappen’s partner and now Ocon’s teammate, the f1 news media asked him who he got along best with, to which Gasly responded:

“Esteban [Ocon] is fast. Max [Verstappen] is fast. We are all from the same generation. I have a good relationship with Max but no relationship with Esteban. They are both good drivers; Max is a three-time world champion, and Esteban is no champion. So obviously, as a driver, Max is definitely the best or one of the best for many years”.

The next stop on the F1 schedule is the Austrian GP, the home race for Red Bull and one in which its drivers are expected to shine to the maximum.
