Stop. Giving. Everyone. A. Podcast.

At this point, podcasts are almost pointless. Everybody has one.

We just got the NBA news that everybody has been waiting for! Lamar Odom is starting a podcast with Caitlyn Jenner. What’s the connection between the two, you might ask? Well, they’re both exes of the Kardashians.

The best part is the title Keeping Up With Sports, which might be the most uninspired podcast title of all time. In case you didn’t know, it’s a play on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. So clever! (Can you tell it’s sarcasm?)

Not to be outdone, LeBron James is launching a podcast with JJ Redick called Mind the Game. While it’s not the best title I’ve ever heard, it’s definitely better than Keeping Up With Sports. It’s honestly surprising it’s taken LeBron this long to start a podcast but he does have The Shop, which is effectively the same thing but he only appears on that every once in a while.

With this big celebrity news dropping at the same time, which podcast is actually going to be worth your time?

Which Podcast Is Worth Listening To?

It’s easy to forget that Caitlyn Jenner was once one of our great athletes and has two Olympic gold medals. As a die-hard Lakers fan, I’ll always have a soft spot for Lamar Odom and the role he played in winning two championships.

However, I can’t imagine this podcast will have much value outside of potential celebrity gossip that the two have learned from their time with the Kardashians. Other than that, I can’t imagine either of them will have very interesting things to say.

Now, LeBron has done a good job of not doing too much media over the years. I’d actually be really interested to hear a podcast with Reddick and LeBron. The two have played a ton of NBA games and their podcast is supposed to be “a pure conversation about basketball.” They should have some good insight and we don’t have to wait long as LeBron revealed that the first episode drops tomorrow.

We’re Giving Anybody a Podcast These Days

Remember when podcasts were a way for normal people to talk about news or sports or whatever? Well, celebrities have totally appropriated the space. Are we really giving Caitlyn Jenner and Lamar Odom a podcast?

At this point, podcasts are almost pointless. Everybody has one. Hell, even I’ve started a couple. It’s pretty unfortunate as podcasts used to be a cool way to have a more unfiltered commentary on news but now it’s just littered with celebrities trying to make an easy buck. Sadly, I don’t think this trend is going to slow down anytime soon.
