Tatum Delivers the Cold Shoulder Treatment
In the age of social media, you see everything… – Jayson Tatum
Jayson Tatum has fans buzzing about the latest NBA news as some fans believe the Celtics star was giving Warriors coach Steve Kerr the cold shoulder. The TLDR version here is that Tatum rode the bench during Team USA’s gold medal run in the 2024 Olympics.

This is despite Tatum leading the Celtics to an NBA title just weeks before the Paris Olympics. A viral video shows Kerr waiting in line to talk to Tatum.
It is unclear if Tatum was aware of this but the Celtics star continues talking with Steph Curry. Kerr eventually walks on as the two All-Stars continue talking.
Tatum Called Lack of Minutes in the Olympics ‘Challenging’
Tatum’s Celtics co-star Jaylen Brown watched the whole thing unfold and appeared to have a smirk. The Boston star waited until NBA games were on the horizon before discussing his feelings about the lack of minutes.
“It was a lot. In the age of social media, you see everything,” Tatum told The Athletic’s Jared Weiss during an August interview. “You see all the tweets and the people on the podcasts and people on TV giving their opinion on whether they thought it was a good decision or it was an outrageous decision or whatever.
Obviously, I wanted to contribute more, and I’ve never been in (this) situation. I started playing basketball at (age) 3 at the YMCA, and I’ve never not played, so it was different and it was challenging.”

Tatum and Celtics Are Favorites to Win the Championship
Jayson Tatum’s stats during the NBA finals had fans expecting the Celtics wing would make a significant impact during the Olympics. Instead, Kerr turned to more veteran options like LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
Stephen A. Smith calls out Steve Kerr for ‘insulting’ Jayson Tatum
“Jayson Tatum ain’t even 28. The man has been to 5 conference finals, 2 NBA finals, and has been 1st team All-NBA for the last 3 years. In the process, he swept KD one of those years and is the reigning,… pic.twitter.com/XsVChH8A1p

As for the latest interaction (or lack thereof), I really don’t think Tatum knew Kerr was waiting around. CBS News reported that Kerr and Tatum eventually hugged after the viral clip ended. So, this appears to be much to do about nothing.
The NBA betting odds at the BetUS Sportsbook have Tatum’s Celtics as a slight favorite to win the championship at +235.
