We wish them the best and hope the marriage lasts as long as their names are combined. Seriously, does she go for the hyphen and announce herself as Mariah Riddlesprigger-Antetokounmpo? That’s only 27 letters for the last name.

But it was a lovely wedding in Greece with a few familiar faces in attendance. Here’s everything we know about the private 3-day event.

Who Is Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Wife?

Mariah Riddlesprigger is 31 years old and from Fresno, California. She attended Rice University where she was a volleyball player, so she is also athletic. Should be great genes for those kids, of which they already have three little ones together.

Mariah and Giannis have been together since 2014, so they have been together since he was a rookie playing NBA games in Milwaukee. Perhaps they finally decided to tie the knot this year for their 10-year anniversary.

They are both heavily involved in charity work in and around the community in Milwaukee. They pledged $100,000 to the staff at Fiserv Forum in 2020 when they could not work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mariah has been an advocate for limiting racial disparities in healthcare, including maternal and infant health. This became important to her after dealing with pre-eclampsia during her first pregnancy.

In a league where players are sliding into Instagram DMs and getting embarrassed publicly like Zion Williamson last year, it’s cool to see such a superstar like Antetokounmpo is doing the family life and doing it quite well.

The Greek Freak’s Big Fat Wedding

Here are the Greek Freak stats on the big wedding in Greece:

  • It was a private 3-day event as the couple did not want media coverage there.
  • Guests actually signed confidentiality agreements to ensure privacy at the wedding.
  • It included a Nigerian-themed party and a White Party at a resort near Pylos in the Peloponnese.
  • Giannis’ teammate Khris Middleton was his best man, so start the jokes that Damian Lillard will never be Giannis’ best man.
  • Lillard was reportedly attending a different wedding on the same weekend, in case you’re interested.
  • Other special guests at the Antetokounmpo wedding included LeBron James, Serena Williams, Jrue Holiday, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Bucks’ ownership, and about 200 others.

While media coverage was forbidden, there were wedding photos posted on social media accounts from some attendees:

The groom is set to turn 30 this season and will be looking to stay healthy after another postseason slipped out of the team’s reach following an injury late in the year. Giannis missed the last nine games, including the entire playoff series loss against the Pacers.

After a wild season where the team used three different head coaches after getting rid of Mike Budenholzer from the previous year, let’s hope for more stability in Giannis’ professional life as he is one of the best players in the NBA today.

At the very least, he seems to have found his rock and stability off the court, so good for him.
