Everybody loves a good villain, especially NBA fans who are always aching to find NBA rumors to cling on to.

Patrick Beverley remains one of the most popular players in the NBA despite only averaging 6.2 points a game this season. That’s largely due to the fact that he remains one of the league’s greatest villains.

However, there is a new wave of villains taking over, and perhaps the next greatest one resides in Memphis.

The Grizzlies are a young and exciting team with plenty of swagger. 27-year-old forward Dillon Brooks provides much of that swagger for Memphis, but he’s rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

One way to become a villain in the NBA is to be a great defender and Brooks is one of the best. Considering his impressive season, we could soon see him on NBA news being named to an All-NBA Defensive team for the first time in his career.

While being a great defender is important to being a great villain, it also takes a certain type of personality. Luckily for Brooks, he might be the least likable player in the NBA right now. That’s evidenced by the fact that another popular NBA villain can’t stand him.

Dillon Brooks Has Beef With Draymond Green

One of the most interesting emerging rivalries seen all over NBA news lately is between the Grizzlies and the Warriors. The former is the young up-and-coming team while the latter is filled with grizzled veterans that have won multiple championships. That hasn’t stopped Brooks and company from displaying a level of arrogance.

Warriors star Draymond Green has served the role of a villain for Golden State’s dynasty. He’s not as impactful as he once was and has become a more likable figure around the NBA over the years. However, he really doesn’t like Brooks. In fact, he just recently took an unprovoked shot during an interview with Lauri Markkanen on “The Draymond Green Show.”

“My brother, I can’t thank you enough for coming on the show man,” Green said. “You’re welcome back anytime. I try to go by this thing and I don’t want to alienate anybody because we’re always appreciative of all guests. But I always say you gotta have a little resume to come on The Draymond Green Show.

“You can’t just be some guys out here talking and getting interviews. You gotta have a resume. You can’t be Dillon Brooks or something so I appreciate you coming on the show, my brother.”

Are We Going to Have a Heated Rematch?

If the Warriors and Grizzlies both win their first-round matchups in the playoffs, they’ll be set for a heated rematch. Brooks and Memphis winning that game would certainly help his case for being the NBA’s biggest villain.

He’s certainly worked hard to boost his resume as a villain. Many players in the league dislike him and he’s already served a suspension this season for earning an 18th technical foul.

Winning a championship would only make him more distasteful in a lot of peoples’ eyes.

Brooks Eyeing Lakers Playoff Matchup

Brooks is already hated by the fanbase of one of the NBA’s most popular teams. He could soon be earning the hatred of the league’s biggest brand… The Lakers.
The Lakers are about to face the Timberwolves in the NBA’s play-in tournament. Should they win, they will be playing against the Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs. That’s exactly what Brooks wants.
“I wouldn’t mind playing LeBron (James) in a seven-game series,” Brooks said, via The Commercial Appeal.
“The legacy is there. First time back in the playoffs, knock him out right away. They’ll test us good. They got good pieces, good players. That’ll be a good first-round matchup for us.”

Beating LeBron James and the Lakers would only give Brooks further incentive to be as insufferable as possible.

If Brooks beats LeBron, NBA news will certainly be on fire!
